So everyone is going to elect the black guy, just so they can say they were a part of history, then he's going to take all the money from the rich and give it to the poor on welfare?
A "welfare state" means the government controls where the money goes to the public. It dictates who gets what and how much. It has nothing to do with what we currently call "welfare" here in the U.S.
In a welfare state, the idea is to create equality among all the citizens. On the surface this sounds great.
The problem with this idea is that everyone is rewarded based on laziness and unfortunate conditions. Hard work and busting your butt is penalized....the less you work, the less effort you give, the more you are rewarded by the government.
I'm not saying helping out the unfortunate is a bad thing...far from it. But it is not the governments position to take care of the unfortunate, that is societies.
Governments role by the way it has been set up in the U.S. is to protect it's people, to ensure that everyone has the ability to make the best of their lives. This doesn't mean give those who have less some of what others have more of the even the playing field, this means ensuring that the playing field is simply there.
So many Americans have become hypnotized under the idea of "give me." So many have become jealous of what their neighbor has that he earned by his own hand and believe they truly deserve the same thing simply because they exist and live next door to him.
you cant make that argument now.. obama in no way is a socialist and he wont be doing anything to make us socialist.. i agree that if we keep electing those like obama then one day we will be faced with a socialist candidate and we will have to vote whether or not we are a socialist country or a regulated capitalist country... at that time, when faced with that decision, the peoples will would be done... but now is not that time when we are faced with that decision..obama is nto socialist and will not make us socialist.. yes he is the begininng of the slippery slope towards that one inevtiable day when americans will have to decide whether or not its socialism for us.. but obama himself is not that candidate and that argument does not fit in this election..
He has the most liberal voting record on the hill. He has voted for more socialistic bills in congress and in the state senate then any other member of congress in Washington in the past 7 years. If he does get elected, he will have complete control over both the executive and legislative thanks to two of the other most liberal members of congress, Pelosi and Reed.
If you know making a fire in your kitchen floor will burn down your house, you don't start adding more wood to the fire to heat your house and simply hope that it doesn't get out of control. You don't start the fire in the first place.
