I love those old 1980's studio shots! Especially with the clouds of smoke around the feet.

All these pics are at Low Res, then bad and one see nothing.
I have scanned ~80 pics of Makkawy at High Res (poster size) a lot better.

He made his big splash at the 76 Universe. He trained with Serge Nubret for 3 months prior to that show and during that time his diet consisted of only meat and fish

Trained with Makkawy for Olympia assaults 83 and 84, and Gladys Portuguese for her Olympia in Montreal. Vince designed all workouts. Makkawy NEVER professed to be clean during his pro career, topic rarely came up as just assumed use like todays pros. Makkawy was animal and irritable on steak and water extended periods....liked to launch benches across gym when equip screwed up....LOL....His lower back was in rough shape from years Olympic lifting in Egypt as a young man and cursed he couldnt do squats/barbell rows traditionally...we always had to improvise....sissy squats (Vince favorite and bench rows)...remember early 80's and not wide array of equip we find today...

Launching benches across the room means that you are Batshit Crazy...I know a guys who dieted for 18 weeks and for the last 3 weeks before a show, eat only a can of tuna every 2 hours...Thats it!!!Plus smoked week but never throw benches across a room...When I hear stories like that, it makes me think that MM was a total fucking douche bag who would beat a woman down if need be...

80s diets where crazy shit....one of the main reasons bodybuilders were smaller back then (on stage)... guys would be huge in the offseason but used totally fucked up diets that caused them to loose too much muscle.  (tuna and water diets and stuff like that)

Old-Skool, was he generally a nice guy, was this attitude reserved for the gym during contest prep? Imagine everyone did that while prepping for a show... very few contestants left come contest day.
I heard he has a supp shop in Canada.

Somewhere I have a letter from Mohamed from years ago. He was nice enough to write me a sample diet that he used. It basically consisted of chicken breast and not much more, maybe  salad or two. He also wrote in it what he took for a show and the diuretics that he used. I remember he saying in the letter that you needed to suffer to get shredded. He was speaking more of the last couple weeks from what I recall. I thought it was pretty cool of him to go out of his way to do this.  :)

The thing about Mohammed (as with alot of BBer's from that time) is that their diets or at least his would last no longer than 6 weeks.

And they never got too fat in the offseason, well most of them anyway.

I remember just recently someone said something close to what you stated above about the guy who killed his girlfriend and then himself...I forget his name but he was seen in a certain pros training video throwing weights around the room...Gave up a couple NFL players on there drug use :-\...
