strong hamstrings = good squats?

does it require to have strong hams to build up decent weight on squats,i read it somewhere the ratio has to be around 2:1 ,can anyone clear my misconception??

if your looking to increase your squat try adding good mornings to your training...

i dont know how strong the correlation is or isnt but i do know there is a correlation, After I started doing Stiff legged dead lifts i noticed my squats went up pretty good so.

Yes, you are right. Always do full squats, then you will build up hams very fast.

That's what it is... good squats = strong hamstrings, not the other way around.

My hams are the only muscle group that show any kind of muscular development from barbell squats.  It's probably because I'm so tall.

Stick with it, its a great movement even for the tall guys.

I have known competitive bodybuilders who were tall but lacked overall development in their legs. Same guys say "can't because I'm too tall" and do the one inch ROM leg press machine instead.

Same with me, and I,m 5'7. I can squat real good in the lower portion of a squat, but lose it in the top range of motion.
I've started using 10# plates under my heels and I like doing squats again 8)

Hack Squats and Sissy Squats seem to work the best for me.
