does it require to have strong hams to build up decent weight on squats,i read it somewhere the ratio has to be around 2:1 ,can anyone clear my misconception??thanks
Yes, you are right. Always do full squats, then you will build up hams very fast. read this Book:http://rapidshare.de/files/40118478/Starting_Strength.pdf.html
My hams are the only muscle group that show any kind of muscular development from barbell squats. It's probably because I'm so tall.
Stick with it, its a great movement even for the tall guys.I have known competitive bodybuilders who were tall but lacked overall development in their legs. Same guys say "can't because I'm too tall" and do the one inch ROM leg press machine instead.
