I wasn't bored enough to read the thread so this response may be redundant.

We have an obligation to criticize govt and hold it accountable. Exercising free speech doesn't make people less nationalistic or patriotic.

Even if Obama weren't black and our economy swirling down the shitter, hard-line republicans would never have voted democrat. That being said, we've never had to be fully confronted with how race is viewed in America until now so a lot of people are in shock. That being said, very few of the people who feel diminished/elevated in social status earn enough money that the presidency affects them financially/personally.

It depends on the subject matter. Many Americans certainly can do without some of his social policies (i.e. repealing the Defense of Marriage Act, federally funding embryonic stem cell research, etc.). Perhaps, on THOSE issues, some Americans hope Obama fails.

Remember that Obama was elected, PRIMARILY because the economic woes that have hit this country and (to a lesser degree, the Iraq War). On that front, many Americans want him to succeed.

If he lays off the former and concentrates on the latter, I think many Americans, regardless of political stripe, will be satisfied.

But, here’s something rather “interesting”

"Promote AIDS Prevention: In the first year of his presidency, President Obama will develop and begin to implement a comprehensive national HIV/AIDS strategy that includes all federal agencies. Ummmmm.......President Obama wants to basically pass out rubbers to convicts Brokebacking each other in the big house??

Not to mention lift a needle exchange ban, so that we'll have junkies without AIDS.

I know alot of people hoping he gets killed. These same people are the uneducated rednecks that think they are smarter than Obama. In the south alot of people voted based on race. It's a sad thing really. If you don't like his views that fine, but don't hate the guy because of the color of his skin.

90%+ of african-american voters vote democrat every time.

I think obama's skin color was a big deal to some, but it didn't change the numbers all that much.

18% of republicans who voted in 2004 staying home - because mccain was a lib and palin was a clod - well, that did seem to matter.
