Bigbobs, do you think that Nasser should get a free pass in years he competed that weren't between 1995 and 1999?

It's about a bodybuilders ENTIRE body of work, not just contest you pick and choose.

Nasser looking massive there!

The "delts" issue has already been discussed many times.  It was not synthol in there, but accumulated scar tissue - this was also confirmed by the expert Dante right here in the G&O board a while back.

And relentless like I said Nasser's legacy is untouched by his last few shows.  Once you achieve legendary status you can do anything and place any which way and you are still a legend.  For example, Samir Bannout trying to make a comeback and not placing well did not take away from his legendary status.  If Ronnie  Coleman continues to compete for years and falls out of the top 10 or even if he starts to look worse than Kovacs he is still 8 time  Mr. Olympia and nothing can take away from that.

BTW he placed 5th in 2000, not sure why you're cutting off your range at 1999

You are comparing Nasser to men who have won the Olympia; Nasser did not.  Nasser was a very bright star, but it was for a very short time.  Nasser is one of the all time greats, but there are many others from the 90s who outshone Nasser.

Flex Wheeler
Kevin Levrone
Ronnie Coleman
Shawn Ray
Chris Cormier (Im on the fence about including him, but I will anyway)
Dorian Yates

Nasser was able to win the Arnold and place 2nd at the Olympia, but all of these men save Chris Cormier have more impressive resumes.

Your idolatry of Nasser leads me to believe you are a champion of the disillusioned.

Yes, he placed 5th in 2000, but he still looked off his top form.  If you want to include that as one of his better years, then fine.

Point is when someone has earned legendary status, future placings do not have any negative bearing on that.  Doesn't matter if a Mr. Olympia title was given or not (and in his case should have been given).

Far from it. Your list contains FIVE Americans and one Anglo-Saxon Englishman. For Nasser to match and surpass most of those resumes is a stunning achievement.
Nasser the Slavic/Egyptian European with his Arabic name to come do what he did in such a biased sport is truly fucking amazing.

If he was an American , particularly a white American, with a name like Jack Williams , he would have won about 4 Olympias and 3 Arnold classics.

Wake and smell the coffee.

It is a desperate measure on their part. Faced with Nasser's clear brilliance they resort to a silly argument.

It's like arguing that Ali was not a great fighter because he fought some bad opponents and lost some fights at the very end of his career.

Stinks of absolute desperation.

QFT.

And for the record Nasser also argues that Markus Ruhl and Milos Sarcev would have placed better than they did had they been American or on friendlier terms with the judging panel.  Even though Nasser does not see eye to eye with Milos he can give praise where it's due - a trait of a class act.

I think that is very subjective.  While Mohammad Ali, Joe Montana, Michael Jordan and others did not tarnish their legacy, there are also some people in sports who DID tarnish their legacy by attempting a comeback or continuing on past their prime.  Nasser was not at the top of his sport like Ronnie was for so long.

It's not like Nasser did what Flex Wheeler did and just compete in a show or two, then retire.  By the way, Flex finished 7th at the 2002 Olympia and 3rd at his last contest (2003 Ironman). Nasser continued to compete even when he had no chance of placing well or even looking respectable onstage.

Not only that, but the way Nasser looked was beyond awful.  He was a watery, fat, lumpy mess.  It wasn't like he still sported great shape and size...he looked HORRIBLE.

Stop the lovefest with Nasser.  If you were at least Nasser's lover or boyfriend, I would have respect that you were standing by your man.  However, it seems are you just obsessed with the guy and continue on with this ridiculous drivel of how he was the greatest.

NO ONE is buying what you are trying to sell, bigbobs.
