I had my Biggest success with negative accentuated deadlifts.
Is this not dangerous for your back, seems like this would put a lot off stress on the vertebrae on the way down?
|
It hasn't helped...

By tensing the lats and back muscles on the negative it puts the spine in a better position on start of pull.More chance of injury to spine at start of pull when muscles are relaxed and suddenly tensed.I used to always tense the muscles at start of pull.I also similated a negative in getting in position(SEE MY 810 pull in Perth) www.americanstrengthlege nds.com

Vince, seeing as you're such a huge deadlifter I'm sure lower back injuries came with the territory. Any advice on how to rehab a lower back injury and bring it back to full strength?

Thanks for the quick reply! Wow, that's very frequent. I've had the luck of finding a great osteopath called Brian Jackson, recommended to me by Jamie Burke, a GPC lifter, not sure if you've heard of him? Going to see Brian again tomorrow. The difference I've felt is unbelievable! You still training hard these days?

Man, I just noticed that Vince Anello joined GetBig ! Man, am I dense ! I only got one thing to say to you, Mr. Anello ... I'M NOT WORTHY ! I'M NOT WORTHY ! It is an absolute honor to have a Powerlifting legend like yourself on this forum ! It's funny because I actually have the book, " Inside Powerlifting " sitting right next to me ! LOL ! I do have some questions pertaining to Diet, Training, etc. ... however, Mr. Anello ... I sure would LOVE to hear some stories if you have them ! Welcome to GetBig, sir ... I hope your stay here is wonderful !
P.S - Man, you really made those Deadlift attempts looks so easy !

Hey Vince! I'm new to GetBig and would love some advice on powerlifting. I've always trained like a bodybuilder and would like to increase my deadlift numbers. What is a good routine for someone who currently does 365x5 in the deadlift and would like to increase it a smuch as I can in the next 6 months. Thanks!
