LOL geez lafukingwezz jag your argueing an assinine point darling...first off her being 15 has nothing to do with stealing, 15 yr olds can steal same as a 89 yr old. I dont know why you went off on a tangent with your old boyfriends story
If you where breaking the law or posted signs and got towed then NO they did not steal your car. FACT IS THEY STOLE THE CAR PLAIN AND SIMPLE the fact it was her mothers doesnt change the fact it was stolen.
You brought out her age under the premise that at 15 she wouldn't have a valid license.
my point is that though she may not have had a valid license, her friend might have.
She might have frequently driven with her friend in the mom's car, ...and would not think anything out of the ordinary to go out with her friend in that same vehicle. That was the point i was making. I'm not arguing that this was the case, I'm simply saying we have heard nothing about the circumstances under which the car was taken other than they did not have permission. And she is being called a "carjacker". Oh puleaze!
And how can you say the tow truck did not STEAL my car, ...then extort payment for it's safe return?
They did not have permission to take my car. I did not want it towed. I didn't tell them to tow it.
The police told them to take it. The car did not belong to the police, ...it belonged to me.
Therefore, the police were complicitous both in it's theft and the subsequent extortion.

They're running a bloody RICO racket!

My point being, ...if by chance he happened to have taken one of the vehicles from his household that wasn't his, ...and if his brother didn't assume he'd taken it, they might have reported it stolen. And by your strict definition, taking a vehicle that doesn't belong to you is stealing. Let's at least be a little consistent here.
And while we're being consistent, ...let's be accurate. The vehicle was not her mother's, ...it was her friend's mother's
Do we even know whether the charges were followed through? Were theft charges pressed?
Did the owner of the vehicle say...oh my kid took the car, ....oh ok. Don't charge them with grand theft auto, ...it was a misunderstanding. We haven't heard about that have we? All we have heard is that a law enforcement officer abused a 15 year old child without justification.
THAT is the issue. We are all in agreement that she acted inappropriately, however, there is no justification for what occurred, ...at least none that I have seen.
