On Wednesday, American Media, Inc. (AMI) and the IFBB Professional League announced the debut of Joe Weider's Pro World Cup in Berlin, Germany will be postponed until 2010.

"Since taking over Weider Publications and Joe Weider's Olympia Weekend in 2004, AMI has been dedicated to expanding bodybuilding not only in the United States, but across the world," AMI Chairman, President and CEO David Pecker said. "Our intention in launching Joe Weider's Pro World Cup is to continue those efforts by hosting an event on par with the biggest and best in the United States.

"Unfortunately, due to the current economic conditions in both America and Europe, it became increasingly apparent that matching the high standards we set every year with Olympia Weekend would be an extremely difficult task. As such, we will be postponing the inaugural Pro World Cup until 2010 in order to ensure that we will be giving the European fans the best possible bodybuilding experience."

In 2010, Joe Weider's Pro World Cup will be held at Messe Berlin in Berlin Germany on October 6-10, two weeks after Olympia Weekend. As originally planned, the weekend will include the European Pro Championships, a Powerlifting Supershow, a European FLEX Bikini Model Search and a Superstar Seminar.

That is not right

Many people in Germany and Europe have already booked their flights and hotels.

People will be not happy about that outcome.

I can image that people will not show up in 2010. People that already paid for their flights and hotel for this year will not book again for next year in spring 2010. And to wait up to the last minute to look for flights and hotel will be very expencieve in germany so alot of people will stay at home.

The IFBB does everything they shoulden't

This is like the Formel 1 in the USA if you have a bad start you can kick it.

another one bites the dust, we can add the pro world cup to the list that includes the show of strength, the japan grand prix, masters olympia etc, of shows that have been scrapped, AMI is doing a great job of ''expanding'' bodybuilding around the world ::)

After watching my first pro show last week, I think it'll take a lot more than a couple more shows to bring bodybuilding to the masses.  It looked like a completely unprofessional gayfest.  No wonder the average Joe doesn't follow bbing.

They need to get rid of announcers who are blatantly leering at the competitors, throw out the sparkly thongs, and stop judging guys on their glutes.  All of the routines were just male lapdances, it was frigging disgusting.

I was looking forward to this - I can't afford to go to the Olympia in Vegas this year and so this was going to be the alternative.
