he made one of his clients sit dead straight while doing wide latpulldown, so the guy was not pulling back he was pulling down

You don't have to lean right back, nor do you have to stay perfectly upright.When i show people i tell them to keep their eyes on the top pulley right on top of the machine. Makes them lean back a little, but not excessively.

Im possible you don't train lats by sitting straight and pullung the latbar straight down use your head
you're supposed to sit up straight fool. That's why it's a LAT pull down. You retract the shoulder blades to keep the shoulders from shrugging at the top of the motion and then you pull down as if you're doing a pull up. This engages the LATS. Lean back and see how much lat you use... you may as well do cable rows because that's all you're doing...keep bashing trainers fellas.
