nasser's quads were much better.

dorian's quads were consistently worse than his main competitors most of the time..

In almost all of these shots Dorian's quads look as big and as cut as his competitors - his quads definitely have a unique shape.  When coupled with his calves, I'd say Dorian had excellent wheels.

Of course he did , only TROLLS beg to differ . Hulkster doesn't like Flex magazines 40 best quads list which Yates was on , yet the troll will brag about how spot on they are about the backs list  ::)

Nasser's quads were certainly awesome.  I don't think the difference between his and Dorian's has much to do with whether they did barbell squats versus smith squats.  Just different shape and structure.

Nasser's calves were also great which gave him equal overall leg development to Dorian.  Arguably better.

Wonder wheels: the 40 all-time greatest legs
Flex ,  July, 2005   by Greg Merritt  DORIAN YATES

As a winner of six Mr. Olympia titles (1992-1997), Dorian Yates set a new standard for overall size and density in the mid-'90s. From the top of his vastus lateralis to the bottom of his soleus, his legs were thick from every angle. Yates believed in high-intensity training, exhausting his muscles by putting maximum effort into a few focused sets.

SQUAT OR NOT?

"Some people's joints articulate in a manner that allows them to benefit
greatly from squats; others may not benefit at all. If you're not too
tall and have short limbs, it may be the best exercise for you, but if
you're tall with long legs, it might be both ineffective and dangerous.
I was stubbornly faithful to squats for years until I finally realized
they were not well-suited for my body structure. After I switched to
more muscle-intensive movements, my gains in leg size were astounding."
--Dorian Yates

ulian Schmidt on Dorian Yates at the 1992 Mr Olympia

There is NO ONE in the world who can touch Yates. In this show he was a brain-snapping 242 pounds , all of it expertly distributed. Against all the finalist , sensational though they were , Dorian possessed thickness and convexity in his back none can match. Even Levrone's triceps and legs , which had the bodybuilding community aflutter all year , paled in comparison with the same bodyparts on Yates. Where others might also boast size and striations , Dorian dominates them with stratifications as well. It's eerie how far this man takes the human physique

Quote Ironaman Jan 1995 former IFBB Judge Roger Schwab 1994 Mr Olympia

" Best Most Muscular - Yates. When he poses , everything explodes. "

" Best Chest - Yates and Levrone-torn pec and all. "

" Best Legs - Yates from top to bottom "

" Best Back - Yates. He has too much back to be compared. "

Trolls always get corrected by the pros  ;) so much for the ' bb community ' lol

Nasser at his best had amazing legs although the heavier he became the more the development of his rectus femoris started to blur overall though his legs were awesome , excellent quads , hams and calves. at his best I'd say he has the edge on quads , yates has the edge on calves and hams probably a split .

notice ND only posts pics of dorian's inner thighs.. ::)

fact is, dorian's quads were not that great from the front to say the least.

lack seperation, lack cuts. sorry.

but when your quads only look good in one angle, you know you have a deficiency..

they should look good from all angles..and dorian's certainly do not.

Nassers, however, look great from the front as well as other angles.

and no, there will be no ronnie comparison, even though he had better quads than BOTH of them when at his best.. 8)

great post!!.. i agree that the difference between them was not mainly due to the type of squats each one was doing.. but dorian himself said before that the barbell squats is the best but he was forced to use the smith squats due to an old back injury he had suffered.. this clearly shows that he thought with barbell squats he was going to train them harder.. anyway in all cases nasser's quads were going to be better because of his better genetics in this area ;D

actually dorian's legs were great and their best year was 1993.. in 1995 he was in a very good condition but his legs were smaller than they were in 1993.. in 1996 they became smaller than 1995 and a little softer too.. in 1997 and as the rest of him they looked bad (for him)..
as for the stupid flex list of the best legs , I have checked it.. really very stupid and unworthy to be checked!!.. they included matarazo because of his great calves (although he had very average upper legs) and excluded a guy like Nasser who had great quads, hams, and, calves!!.. ironically the same magazine had chosen nasser’s legs as the best in 1996 over dorian, Kevin, shawn, cormier, paul, Ronnie.. etc.. now in the recent list all these guys are mentioned and Nasser is not!!.. how can anyone buy this?..

Don’t base all your thoughts only on what came in old magazines like a parrot!!..
For example flex magazine said in its review about mr. Olympia 1995 that Kevin was at the exact same condition of 1994 but smaller!!.. in other words they saw him better in 1994 than in 1995!!.. now everybody, a fan or an expert knows well that he was clearly better in 1995 which is considered by many as his best shape ever..
Flex magazine also said in its review about mr. Olympia 1996 that dorian’s left biceps was filled remarkably (due to his great training)!!.. now check the video or the pics to know that his torn biceps was always the same.. and in a separate article the “great” magazine saw that dorian’s version of 1996 was better than in 1995!!.. of course now we all know that in 1995 he was by far better.. dorian himself said after mr. Olympia 1996 that he was better than 1995 but now in his last interview he made with david Robison he considered 1995 as his best year!!.. in one article you read him saying that he stopped barbell squats because he realized they didn’t fit his structure then in another article you read him saying that he did this because of an old back injury!!.. I am not saying that dorian doesn’t say the truth, aside of any hocus pocus here i trust his credibility but may be he changes his opinions and thoughts as any one may do!!.. so don’t take anything you hear or read for granted..

100% right.. and i believe quads are more important than calves when you talk about legs as a whole.. right??.. ronnie's poor calves didn't cost him anything but imagin if he had poor quads??..

where's the cuts? the delineation? detail? its non existant.

like many have said - not so good from the front.. :-\

esp. to guys like Nasser, Ronnie, Flex, Shawn and Kevin who have fantastic quads from any angle:

notice: dorian's quads were alway huge, but it was the quality that was lacking, at least in front shots - which is the most common way of viewing them..

I love Nasser.

It takes seasoning for a bodybuilding fan to really understand what Nasser is all about.  In his prime, Nasser was second to none.
