Mike,

Do you find yourself jerking off a lot more than usual? I didn't ask about banging your wife because you guys have been together for so long, I'm sure it's more efficient to jerk off to a chick at the gym than to bug your wife. I lost 21 lbs in 3 weeks and I became a treadmill AND porn fiend. What sayeth thou?

Mike-

Great progress!, but I'd consider treating this as a "leaning out" phase but NOT compete this year.

Main reason is that IMO to compete at a bb contest, you should LOOK like a bb, not just like an "in-shape" guy - if a gymnast, amateur wrestler, or ultimate fighter (think Andrei Arlovski) is more muscular than you, you should NOT be competing as a bb!.

Of course if your goal is to just get in shape + have fun at a contest, then that's fine, but when I've entered + when I watch bb contests, I expect to be/see guys that look more muscular than gymnasts.

Right now I know you're depleted, but even so, only you'r side chest + BDB look ~OK.  Even if you lean out more + carb up, you'll still at most look like a guy who works out but wont be impressive as a BB.

It'd be better to pull a post-NOC, pre-first Olympia Dorian Yates plan - that is, stop the dieting but continue to EAT CLEAN but high calories + concentrate on gaining mass again, particularly in your lat width, chest, and quads/hams.

THEN you can enter a show + "look" like a real bb!

G'luck whatever you do.

I don't agree with that.  Even if Mike doesn't look "INSANE", going through the process of prepping for a show is a valuable experience from which he learn not just a lot more about bodybuilding, but about the kind of man he is.  Come show time, if he can look at himself in the mirror and honestly say that he did everything he could to be at his best, then it's all worth it.

I agree with Mindspin here.  Plus, doing a bodybuilding show, really, is all about building an obtical illusion.  You see these dudes walking around the crowd, and then see them on stage, they look about 50lbs bigger.

Mike looks good in these pics, not insane, but good.  Once he is diced and tanned and oiled, compiled with the lighting in the show................its all about the obticle illusion, he just might end up looking insane.

'Spin-

I see yer point, but if you call yourself a bb'er, I think you should be more muscular than another athlete, or else what are you really doing + what kind of competition is bb?

If a college football player can come off the playing field, walk on stage + look better than you, then exactly what type of "bodybuilder" are you?

Remember when strongmen contest winners would sometimes enter the physique contest, beat everyone + then  laugh at bodybuilding?

Not good for bb.....

This is analogous to the old argument of "Should you applaud/give an A for effort out of shape people who get in the best shape of their life, enter a bb contest, but frankly dont look very good?".

Sorry, but I 100% agree with Mr. Incredible's comment that "We're coming up with new ways to celebrate mediocrity."

In short:

1. Compete in a sport if you're competitive.
2. Otherwise just have fun in your chosen sport, but don't pretend you're a competitive athlete, as it makes your sport look bad.

Mike, in the midst of my ongoing criticism, I just want to emphasize that your phsyique improvement IS very noticable + very commendable.  Self-improvement is always cool.

My only quibble is how I define a "competitive bodybuilder" vs what 'Spin and others define it as, and this definition's implications for bb as a sport.

Again, good work, + good luck whatever you decide to do.

I understand fully BB. its like what you consider an attractive woman, someone else thinks shes just par.

Its all standards that you set.
