Decent progress Mike. When I do my contests, the dude that helps me always tells me true about everything. Fortunately, I always do what he says to a T, and then some, so he never dissed my work ethic in the gym, or my dieting. He is always very positive as well. BUT..... he is also very honest with me about flaws with my physique.... and at one time, my lower body was about 3 years behind my upper body. This was about 6 months before my first contest, and he said, "your legs are too small, we will do them 3 times a week, and just obliterate them, and then a couple of months out we will work on getting them diced to the bone before C-day". It worked out OK, I came in 2nd in the open lightweight class, and I won the junior masters, but I realized all along what my shortcomings were thanks to my coach. You do need somebody, one guy, that tells you the truth, no matter what. It is nice to have a lot of support, and a lot of positive people around, but you also need someone to look you in the eyes and give you the good honesty, and the bad honesty . This is your first time, so make it fun and enjoyable, and go on stage looking the absolute best that you can, and if you got issues with your physique, then after this is over work hard to correct them. For now though, JUST HAVE FUN..................... ....................Weez

FWIW,

I think Freakzilla is your best friend on this board Arvilla.

If you don't realize that, you need to check yourself.

This guy gives you an honest appraisal, while never telling you to fcuk off.

Cheri Lane, the difference between someone like Freakzilla and 240 is total.

The difference between Freakzilla and Luke Wood is also total. As in that Freakzilla won't sugar coat it.

Just like the coaches of winning championships, he'll tell Arvilla what needs to be better, not what is good or decent. But in a constructive manner.

Complacency is a bitch.

And Freakzilla is your best friend here.

Time you realize that. And pay that fcuker some respect.

damn,i wish luke would sugar coat things for me sometimes..lol

The person who sent me this e-mail will remain anonymous (coughslarry)
it was so nice and motivational i had to post it!

looks good,EXCEPT, no carbsat 3:30 & I wanted you to do 200carbs not 175.I
would rather you have taken some carbs then & slowed up some on the evening
meals.Just like protein MIke,at this stage of the game, Iwant the carbs
exact or damn close,ok? This will be vital from here on out.Example, if I
tell you the morning of the contest before pre-judging I want you to take
in250 carbs & you only get 200 or so youwill be flat on stage & basically
you "F'ed " yourself, I had to learn this the hard way, you don't.On a good
note, once again Mike, I am DAMN proud of the effort you put in esp w/all
the obstacle's that were put in your path getting to where you are now.Not
sounding corny or mushy, you are a warrior, keep up the good work & don't
let up.

Mike, this is simple really.....you're trainin your ass off, dietin your ass off (no pun intended LOL) and preppin to step on stage.   Regardless of the results that's a major milestone for some of us that only previously watched the bb shows and read the bb mags....you're publically comin out and showin the world your progress on easily the most critical bb board on the net...gotta be thick-skinned to post here (and you are).  The results of this show are relatively meaningless...the point is you're gettin on a stage (tremendous in and of itself) and are gonna learn a ton from the experience.  Finish this show and start trainin your ass of to put on size in the off-season (that's the fun stuff)....you'll have an all-new, great base to work build off of now.....come a year...hell, even 6 months from now you're gonna have grown.    I bust everybodys' balls on here, but I also know when to be real with people.   I knew of you when you first posted and you've made dramatic improvements.   Shit, well all have fuckin mirrors and can see where we need to improve.....for competitive and noncompetitive bbs alike, time and consistency are great alies...they only bring bigger, better, more dramatic results.   Keep it up brother!

good post.

I just thought it was time for a look back at what Arvilla looked like in the beginning of his diet.

Here's a pic from February, he actually got a few positive responses for how he looked here, although Freakzilla was keeping shit real:

The very first pic of this thread, a bit blurry:

This picture taken from Arvilla's site, pre-diet, not a single cut to be seen:

Compare that to the current state of this guys physique:

It's not even the same bloke.

Two different persons.

One fat out of shape dude.

And then there is this guy with actually quite an impressive physique.

I'm looking forward to the next couple of pics on this thread.

Perhaps some kind of Jablonicky relaxed pose?

Sidenote: I don't get why Arvilla has Freakzilla as the Jackass of the month on his website? That's fcuked up.  >:(

I can't help but jump on the praise bandwagon. You've made a terrific transformation and the funny thing is, at your old weight people were mocking your structure, that it wasn't pleasing bladybla. I think you've proved them wrong! Get those legs up and you absolutely look the deal! BTW at this BF you look healthier and younger, how's that for a bonus!
