True about the WR's but I don't think he ever gave his guys much of a chance. There have been countless times when the pocket would collapse and he would scramble to his left. As defenses would close in on him he would pass up numerous opportunities to throw to his open WR's for a big gain before running past the line of scrimmage. Instead he would take off and run almost every time. He lacks the skills and IQ to improvise on the fly. Now he's an older player and two years removed from football. He won't be able to get away with playing that style any longer.
Isn't it possible he took off so much because his WRs couldn't get open?
I really like the way Reeves used Vick. Had a number of controlled roll outs and designed run plays.
Vick really is different. I doubt we'll ever see another QB pass for 170 yards and run for 170 in the same game. That's just off the chain. He just needs to be in the right system with someone who knows how to use him.
I do agree the rust could really hurt him, but he's not too old. Depends on how hard he trains. Did you see the Willie Gault article I posted the other day? Certainly possible for an athlete to maintain his speed in his 30s. I know Gault didn't lose two years in prison, but he's in his late 40s and still faster than almost everyone in the NFL.
