I'm not disputing the fitness of NBA players or saying one sport is more difficult than the other. Read my posts. What I'm saying is, they are different types of fitness. Different dudes are better designed for different sports. A pretty basic concept imo

I took him today on the track for our first workout

We did sprints, plyometrics and ATTEMPTED 400m intervals

he was fucking pathetic

I'll whip him in shape though

they are good soccer players ...but they are rarely GOOD ATHLETES

And I'm saying that Kobe spending 45+ minutes running up and down a basketball court at 150% intensity would probably translate fine to soccer, where no one runs for anywhere near 90 straight minutes. Guards are hardly walking on a basketball court. And definitely not Kobe. Factor in that he is doing that while banging bodies with 220+ pound guys and dribbling/shooting a ball at the same time and it's even more impressive.

freshman year in high school i ran a 6:30 mile and couldn't keep up for a full basketball game with the basketball team.  these dudes are in incredible shape, no doubt about it.

I actually know what I am talking about from experience

My best friend in the States and roommate was Eric Stocz former NFLer

we worked out toghether both in the gym and an the track

I also trained soccer players and have seen all of them perform

It's not even close !

The NFL NBA guys are some of the most gifted and true workhorses ( not all but most)

soccer players are busy buying Gucci flipflops and parading around ....

none of them if rarely see the inside of a gym

they are puny at best and even on the track most are laughable ...

I cannot even start to describe the difference in athletic ability

A top level soccer player runs over 10 kilometers a game (nowadays they have stats in soccer for every bullshit just like in the US-Sports...). I doubt they get close to that in basketball. The US-Team is lightyears away from being a competitive team in a world cup. Confed Cup doesn't mean shit. The MLS best player Landon Donovan tried two times to play in Germany and sucked hard both times.

A lot of dumb posts on this one...

true I'd rather be an NFL or a Rugby player any day

but football players run about 10 miles a game, a lot of it is non stop they are all very fit. If you've played football then you'll know how damn tiring it is. NFL on the other hand, I love that sport but damn it stops way too often, I wonder if the players are built for any type of endurance at all?

Your theory is completely unfounded. Why do you think an athlete of Kobe's caliber would not succeed at a sport like soccer? It's not like he's 7'6 or 300 pounds.

If anything, I would say Kobe's fitness level is above that of most soccer players.

very few run 10 k averages

best goalkeeper in europe is america's own keeper

there aren't many top american soccer players cause only rejects take up soccer in US

the best of the best, the creme de la creme go to the big 4

I don't think I have ever seen a skillful 6'6/6'7 soccer player. Peter Crouch is about as close as I have seen personally. Again, I'll reiterate I'm not disputing his fitness levels, what I'm saying is he is best designed for basketball, ie a fast sport over shorter distances, not one requiring running over longer distances and times at slower paces
