Serious answer, now, J. Read because it brings you pleasure, or it enriches your life, in some way. Don't read something because someone 'insists' you do, or because you feel incumbent to do so. And I have a great suspicion about 'self-help books. I think they probably do as much harm as good. If you're not a reader, that's fine, too. Life is short. Do what makes you happy.  :)

Good post.

And as stated, one book won't "change your life" (except in a few rare occurences, for good or bad). Books can give you new ideas and perspectives that can be useful and help you over time though, and Debussey thinks certain books labeled "self help", like "Think and Grow rich" can challenge you to think in new ways that can be beneficial. Just don't buy the hype, as it rarely tells the truth. And be very sceptical towards advices given in books as "the solution to everything" and similar ways of putting it. That = rarely true.

And: The most important thing is to avoid regular novels and books with poems at all cost!  >:( :-X

Debussey meant prose and things like that. (Don't know the english words).

Poem for Sperms:

There is a snob
Hunting bitches for a blowjob
His name is Sperms
And he is a fucking obnoxious english snob.
