Burglary Suspect Was On Probation
Kirby Homeowner Opens Fire On 3 Teenagers

KIRBY, Texas -- A homeowner in Kirby who opened fire on three teenagers during a burglary attempt, killing one of them, is distraught over the incident, the police chief said Wednesday.

"I kind of got the sense he wasn't happy having to do what he did, but I strongly feel he was put in one of those situations where he felt he needed to protect himself, and he took appropriate action," said Kirby Police Chief Kevin Bois.

Bois said that at around noon Tuesday, the homeowner heard some noise coming from his sliding glass door, grabbed his handgun and fired multiple rounds.

Alex Aleman, 17, was shot four times in the chest and died. Justin Rivera, 19, was wounded.

Oscar Alatorre, 17, who Bois said was the getaway driver, was not hurt. Alatorre and Rivera were arrested and will face felony burglary charges, Bois said.

Aleman was on probation for burglary at the time of the incident, Bois said.

Aleman's family told KSAT 12 News that their loved one didn't deserve to be shot "like a dog" and question where a homeowner draws the line for self-defense.

Bois said that a grand jury will review the case, but charges probably won't be filed against the homeowner.

"They're kind of tired of it," Bois said. "They work hard for their property, that's their home and they're getting tired of folks kicking in the door and helping themselves."

The three suspects had ties to gangs, Bois said.

"We're looking into the possibility they had staked the house out before and heard there might be electronics and weapons in the house," he said.

perhaps these fuktards think the man should have let them in and offered them coffee.

Its amazing to me to think that a person can think that someone who is breaking into another persons house to try and steal their hard earned property, their peace of mind, their security, IF NOT KILL THEM DOESNT DESERVE TO BE SHOT LIKE A DOG

The reporter should have said "Perhaps if you rotten kid did not act like a dog . . . .. "

The tragic part is that most people dont want to take a life but are forced to do this.

The Big Day is coming- I am guesstimating 2015 or so. The day when America wakes up and tells LE to do whatever they want to bring down all of the latino gangs in this country. They grow braver by the day it is high time we put our foot down and fuck shit up. We know where they are- we know what they look like- not taking action has dire consequences and must be addressed.

This is why I implore everyone I know to get trained in unarmed self defense as well as learn how to defend themselves with arms.

We have some serious bad stuff up ahead and desperate people will be forced to do desperate things.

Either people will be roadkill, or will turn the violent criminals into roadkill themselves.

NO.

We need to give them amnesty, welfare checks and free healthcare. And they shouldn't have to pay taxes either.

In Baltimore a few yrs ago a 11 yr old was fatally shot when he was caught breaking into a person's shed. He was trying to get a dirt bike, at 11 pm. His parents said that the was wrong, but he didn't deserved to be shot. The homeowner only saw someone on his property breaking into his shed, nor is anyone going to ask "how old are you?"

in baltimore there is a HUGE problem with teenagers and dirt bikes. They rove thru the streets by the hundreds, and I'm talking during rush hour. These bikes are typically stolen with the vin # filed off. Bikes from New Jersey to North Carolina have been stolen to be sold to these gangs like the 12 O'Clock Boys (look them up on YouTube )

I'm looking for a .45 to round out my handgun collection.  Any ideas?

I am looking at the SA & Colt 1911 but heard Taurus makes a good one.  The gun guy near me is steering me away from Kimber.

Are you looking for a 1911 in particular?  I want one eventually too.

Colt is a little pricey.  The Taurus 1911 aren't bad, if you are looking in that price range go for Rock River Arms or Para Ordinance(I prefer the Rock River out of those).

The Springfield line is what I prefer as far as 1911s go.  If you aren't looking for a model 1911 then look at FN firearms, they are called a poor man's Sig for a reason.  A little big to conceal but they really are a dream to shoot(I tried one last month).  I really, really like the FN.

Springfield has put out the XDMs in .45 now.  I have a XD in .40 and I love it.  A little thick to carry, but a great firearm, good thing I like to carry IWB.

I'm getting a S&W M&P in .40 later this year to carry because it is thinner, lighter, and shoots better than the XD.  They also make them in .45.  You should go shoot one or at least hold one if you can.

I want a classic .45 1911 style as I already have a G26, G17, Berretta 92B,

The Kimber factory is five minutes from me, but the gun dealer, who I am very close with is pushing me to a SA or Colt.

Ive heard good thing about the SA my brother has a taurus 1911 and he likes it, I would assume that colts are a good bit more expensive than both the SA and the taurus. Ive also heard good things about Para ordinance but nothing in particular about their 1911's.

I'd go with the SA then.  The Taurus is fine, but they're CS sucks so if you do have problems you might as well consider yourself SOL.

Yeah, I have heard that Kimber's are having a little bit of a hard time with their quality control lately too.  I don't see the point of paying for a $1200 handgun that is liable to have problems.

Glocks are now overrated.  They are losing market share and law enforcement agencies left and right...they used to be a leader, now they are a follower refusing to adjust to a changing market.

That was considering their company at least, their firearms are still top notch.  With manufacturing plants in Georgia and Mass I believe.

I've owned sigs, keltech, walther and other handguns... but these days it's all glock plus the pocket rocket  :)

3333 you might want to look into a ruger but they may be hard to find these days. I have a p40 based of the 1911 but a good bit thicker and I swear its one of the best and most pleasurable to shoot hand guns Ive owned.

Adjustable back straps being the key.  SA, S&W, and Walther have been making firearms with adjustable backstraps that people have been asking for.  Glock literally refused for several years.  Now that S&W is taking the market by storm with adjustable backstraps, and a better grip angle that more people are comfortable with, Glock is just now making that change with their 4th generation Glock, which has the adjustable back straps. S&W also made their M&P line for the .40; you feel less recoil with what is generally known to be a "snappy" round.  Glock forever made it apparent they thought their line was perfect, including the lack of adjustable backstraps. Glock has introduced a double recoil spring with their .40 caliber pistols.  It supposedly makes your .40 feel like shooting a 9mm.  I definitely want to try one out even though I personally prefer the M&P.

My point is...other companies have made all of these changes way before Glock.  Glock should have been the leader with these changes, but they are still a great firearm that is proven.  My gripe with the gun is the gun itself, it just doesn't fit my hand very well and gives me slight slide bite.

The company should have jumped on these demands from the market earlier.  Just my .02.

Keep an eye on the SHOT show this year gentlemen.  There are rumors that Ruger and maybe even Remington will be jumping on the 1911 bandwagon in 2010.  Again, just rumors but you never know.
