A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

It's really that simple....

If one thing irritates the piss out of me it's that something so crystal clear can be so complicated to some people...

Other than the right to abortion, there is absolutely no right whatsoever that most left wing freaks give a rats ass about.

Hit the nail on the head...

The circus caravan on the left got all upset over the Tebow ad, which was harmless, but are utterly silent on things like this.

Look up the PMRC and who was in favor of that?

"Hate Speech codes"

Just look who tries to ban speech and you would be surprised who actually are the most anti 1sr amendment forces.

Oh yeah, I just saw the clip the other day on TV where Mr. Snider suggested Mrs. Gore was looking for sex in their music or something... It was hilarious...    :)

KING, N.C. -- Authorities lifted a curfew and alcohol restrictions in King on Sunday, but said a state of emergency declaration remained in effect until Monday.

Authorities said the state of emergency declaration would continue until Monday 9 a.m., barring any unforeseen circumstances or severe changes.

Effective Sunday afternoon, alcohol restrictions and a curfew were lifted. All other remaining restrictions would continue until Monday, said Paula May, King police chief.

Other restrictions include a ban on the sale or purchase of any type of firearm, ammunition, explosive or any possession of such items off a person's own premises.

Also on Sunday, the emergency shelter established by the American red Cross at West Stokes High School was closed.

"We appreciate the support and cooperation of everyone with our efforts to keep the citizens of King safe," May said.

The state of emergency was declared Friday due to severe weather.

And people wonder why us pro- 2nd amendment folks are so protective over our rights.
Uh, The State of Emergency is over.  The reason why gun sales were banned is because they were unable to perform the background checks because the power was out.  You do realize there are certain steps to obtaining a firearm.  Don`t worry, the power is back on and databases are running fine now and gun sales resume.  3333666, you really are an emotional reactionary wreck.

State of Emergency Terminated
The State of Emergency was terminated at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 8, 2010. Many thanks to Duke Energy for getting power restored to our citizens so quickly, to the news media for keeping our citizens informed, and especially to all our citizens for your understanding during this time of crisis.

WTF
Background checks to purchase firearms cannot be run if you do not have power.

"The reason why gun sales were banned is because they were unable to perform the background checks because the power was out. "

Wow.... in that case, it seems like a logical move.

Shit, TA you gotta post here more.  You bring attention to detail that many of us (myself included) miss.

Indeed.  King, NC is a small town about 6000 people which are all supplied by one Power Company, Duke Energy.   The entire town lost power.

A blast of winter weather Friday left widespread power outages. As of 5:00pm Saturday, more than 6,400 Duke Energy customers are without power. There is no word yet on when power will be restored in the county. So in the meantime, King Police Chief Paula May issued the following State of Emergency guidelines for the city of King.

if the only reason was due to back ground checks then why was ammunition banned too , that does not require back ground check?

Its part of North Carolina state law when a State of Emergency is declared.

Exactly, more laws that violate the constitution and civil rights, i.e. progressive politics, you know the ones that openly admit that the constitution is just a road block

Uh no.  States of Emergency are hardly unconstitutional.  Show me where this violated the Constitution.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

I CAN show you one element where the North Carolina Constitution violates the Federal Constitution and that is the requirement of belief in God to hold office.  This of course is null, but it is in there.

And guess which party would like to adhere to that?  The Republicans and the right wingers.

Article VI - Suffrage and Eligibility to Office

Article VI provides every person who is at least 18 years, an American Citizen, and living within North Carolina the right to vote. This right is denied to felons and people illiterate in English. This article also sets the eligibility to hold office. To hold state office a person cannot fall in any of the following categories:

   1. Younger than 21 years of age
   2. Denies the existence of God (see Infeasible Provisions)
   3. A person who is not qualified to vote in an election for that office
   4. Felon (See felony disenfranchisement)
   5. Already holds a state or federal office.

That is the whole point of the State of Emergency Declaration.  To prevent the above scenario.

I do realize there needs to be some countermeasures so I am not against all of it.  There are some provisions which are necessary in my opinion, for intelligence gathering.

Bottom line is to do what 240 says, stock up in the easy times on both guns ammo and alcohol.

Nothing wrong with that at all.  There should always be at least one bottle hidden somewhere in the cupboard.

I have a question for you 333666 and 240 or anyone who knows about guns,

I have an antique handgun which was my fathers.  He passed away a long time ago of course and now its mine, but the thing is so old (late 1800s or early 1900s I think), that of course there is no paperwork or whatever on it.  It is in perfect condition and I am sure it would fire just fine.  Do I need to register it or does it follow under grandfather clause of some sort or should I even bother?

Is it black powder?  If so, you may not need to.

If it is a revolver firing normal ammo and you have a question, do some research first on the internet before you call the cops.

What I would do is call another county from someone elses phone and ask questions suiting your situation.  You may need to show a copy of a will or a letter from an executor auhorizibg you to take possession of it and then register it.

If you want to justkeep it in a safe, dont bother.  If you want to go to a gun range, than you should definately find out first.

haha nah, my advice is to not be one of those nuts with a silo full of supplies in your yard, walking around with a rifle talking about the end of days.

rather, just live a happy life, and keep a little extra on hand should anything ever happen.

Hell, living in FL, we have a few hurricane scares every year.  Just keeping a little food and water onhand (enough for a week or two) means I'm not spending a whole day in line at walmart, fighting with idiots for a few gallons of water.

I remember sitting in a flooded trailer park with no power for a week after hurricane charley hit.  living on doritoes and pepsi for a week, playing cards and just hanging out with the rifle by the side nodding at the vagrants and wanderers who passed thru.  Those 8 gallons of water that had been sitting in the cabinet forever came in quite handy.
