the reason that women with other STD's have a higher risk is because of two reasons.

1 is medical
the other is behavioral.

having other STD's can mean sores which can be open which provides direct route of transmission of infected fluid directly into the bloodstream of the women.

the other risk, is from what I understand, people that already have STD's are more likely to have multiple partners (perhaps how they got the STD in the first place?) and that puts them at higher risk.

That's really not how it works.  You're most likely not going to get aids hitting it, even if you don't wear protection.  The risk of transmission through intercourse is extremely low, especially female-to-male.  This is taken from a website:
