i agree,, hack squats just DONT feel right to me even with light weight it feels like my knees are about to blow out

let that be a another lesson to you idiots trying to impress eveyone with moving lots of weight for "short retard reps"........your gonna hurt yourself

like lee haney said..........."stimulate, so annihilate"

and one more thing,,,,,zack khan is never, and was never going to be anything more then a supplement ad darling anyway....too many flaws

I have similar problems... Maybe a height thing?

yeh, i think taller people are just biomechanically different

i see shorter guys do things in the gym, particularly on leg day, that would cause me to be injured

X2. I am 6'2" and was trying to explain to some 5'4" midget how I am just not built for squats. Of course being 21years old he proceded to lecture me how you MUST squat blah blah blah. Just like you MUST bench too right? Idiot.

Best squatters in the world (superheavyweight weightlifters) are around your height...

yeah, front squatting as well, i tried it a few times, and it just hurt all over.....not the good "i just got a workout hurt".....but injured hurt

flatbenching too, i never got injured doing it....but i got kind of bored with it last year, cause its overemphasized

so i started doing a lot of other movements and my chest has made SO much progress

Think he gave up what he was using to the docs pre-surgery so there were not any complications with the anesthesia?

dunno it might be just bullshit, and excuses. I'm 6'4 and used to do lame quarter rep squats with 240 pounds. A half year ago after a quick reality check i decided to actually learn squatting properly. So i dropped the weight, and started to make deep squats with 100 pounds. Naturally i didn't had any problem doing them :D Now i can do it with  200 pounds, so i guess this "being tall" thing was just an excuse to make lame and not so exhausting quarter reps... You just need to let your ego outside the gym, and let your muscles and joints get used to the deep squats.

PS: i know that 200 pounds arent too much. Thanks.

My knees love deep front squats, thank you.  8) Besides, why shouldn't we use the joint throughout all it's motion? It was designed to do just that...

The joint isn't the issue, it's the tendon being stretched over a greater range of motion with a heavy load on it. Recipe for disaster.

Khan underwent surgery today, two days after completely detaching the tendons above his left and right knees. Khan suffered the injury while hack squatting.

this is why you shouldn't do hack squats.

it's not so much shouldn't as to let the ego go a bit,it's like leg presses some people pile on the 45's and get the gym stares from the loaded press .hacks work with a good superset  say extension, lunges ect.milos injured himself on hacks also.i don't care how developed your quads and hams are your tendons say otherwise.

Bloody hell! He's done before he even started. Too many young dudes with promise never make it to their first pro show. That just sucks. The big problem with hacks is not just the position but machines in general. They are not designed for tall or short people but with the idea of 5'4" to max 6'. Anyone above or below will be at some whacked out angle. Poor fucker is just toast. He'll truly never recover.

I'm 6'3 and i do deep squats. You just gotta practice your hips flexability more so than the midgets. Start light, work your way up.

ahhh we may have another joel stubbs on our hands...  :-\

I don't think Joel was a bodybuilder when the injury happened..so his leg development wasn't huge to begin with, hence the disparity in his proportions.
