1 gram per pound of lean body weight. and that is more than enough. actually, its 2 grams per kilogram, which is slightly less than 1 gram per pound.   ;)  you will never find any science or studies to back up a protein intake higher than that. you will find some "gurus" who think more is better, but the body doesnt work that way, not even on massive amounts of juice3 and training like a savage. moreover, when dieting the goal is to eat as little as possible to sustain mass while losing bodyfat as quickly as possible. yoru not trying to be anabolic, your just trying to avoid catabolism.

if you think you need 7 meals per day your delusional. you havent worked out seriously in years and youve got zero muscle. dieted down you will be 160-170 tops, with lots of loose skin  ;D. only dudes with 220lbs+ lean mass need to eat like that. your just wasting food, money, and time by eating that many meals and that much protein. trust me

I was doing HIIT trainiing for cardio but Im still too heavy and its murdering my joints. I am switching to a fast (4.0 mph) walk on a slight incline on the treadmill. Now based on the fact my main interest is losing weight (have to be 237 by Sept 23 MULTIPLE $ weight loss bets (262 today)), and can go morning, afternoon, evening, whenever. How often do you think I should go and for what length of time sessions? Also here is what I eat

brother, i would say stay with the slow steady cardio (for now) THEN switch back to hit

btw, seriously, good luck on your goals- we are all pulling for you

Lol@all the people trying to tell Josh how to diet, when he has a guy that gets guys in shape for a living doing his diet. Epic lolz.
Where is you guys National winning conditioning? Where is your olympia caliber conditioning? Where is the guys paying you to do there diets? Everyone is quick to say "well this is what science says your body is gonna do", then why do you have nothing to show for all your "knowledge"? Sometimes what science says, isnt exactly how shit works in the real world.
Just like Im finding out at school where we build race engines. What works flies in the face of science a lot of the time. Physicists say that wont work, all you need is this, but the fact is that the human body is a very complex mechanism that people dont fully understand, just like the internal combustion engine. To think you know more than the guys that do it for a living cause science says so, is absolutley absurd.
Bombz I really like most of your advice, but the fact is that its like you arguing how to build a race engine with a guy that builds NASCAR motors, and you just finished rebuilding your 1st small block chevy in your pickup truck.  :-\

Tbomz is correct.  That is WAY too much food for a natural over 40 who's trying to lose a lot of weight.
WAY too much food.  And disturbia, I'm seriously wishing you the best of luck in this.

that diet shows exactly how jim is behind the times.

its the typical keto type that he's been using since he first read about it.

however the lack of carbs may not be ideal for josh as he's a manic depressive/ bipolar.

the lack of seratonin producing carbs will not do much to help improve his moods.

if josh manages to stick to through, he will have to overcome his moods, his cravings, and his very biological demand for carbs. this will require a tremendous feat of will power from josh.

i would suggest a better approach would be for josh to go down my own route ( that he knows about from my pm) but basically it is what adonis and wavelength have been advocating here for a long time.

the science backs it as being just as effective as the keto diet, easier to stick too, and perhaps biologically more suitable for someone in josh's situation.

Why are you guys trying to get him to change? The worst thing he can do now is start changing things around.
Hes goin with someone who is proven to get the man in shape... let him do it. If he isnt happy or something, next time he can try something different.

You guys are like a bunch of women constantly trying to get their friend to break up with their BF and date this guy they know, cause hes "perfect" for them (the friend).

Josh has already said hes not interested in your guys diet advice, hes set on Disgusted's diet. And I dont blame him. Even if hes behind the times, hes proven he can get people into shape.
None of you can say the same.

::) i have told josh to stick to jims diet via pm, i was simply making some observations, and giving some advice based on science.

if he feels bad etc then i think he should change, untill then good luck to him.

god the way you jump to conclussions is just like a woman jumping down ......... oh wait never mind  ::)

i suggested my own type of diet may be better, if/and/or when jims gets too much/effects him in ways he is not expecting.

no need to get upset about this princess.
