Hey Mr. Parker what thread are you reading? So I take it you work in the educational field, maybe you're a teaching assistant, cafateria aid, etc.etc.? So you think this woman in the above paragraph knew anything about what was going on in that school district? She wouldn't give up her seat and she wasn't even living in the city of Buffalo BUT she was reaping the benefits of being on the board, resume, freebies ( like the phone she was making calls on) Yes, her trustwothiness spoke volumes. That's the type of person I want making decisions about my money, children and what is best for the operations of buildings within the school district. Every so often I get into debates with these kids that haven't seen anything more intense then a college prank. They go to school for some obscure liberal arts degree that they can wipe their ass with because they couldn't make up their minds what they wanted to be when they grow up. Mr. Parker, you are one of these types of people. You are being ignorant. Nothing was metioned about a PTA, that is not a school board!. Anytime you want to debate the field of Education with me feel free to but I do guarantee, you will lose.
STAY POSITIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One, you have to see what stipulations that the school board has, go into what the requirments are. Does it say that she has to live in Buffalo, NY, or that county? You never mentioned that.Do, I agree with it, no I do not. But, you make an assumption of what a person's creditials are to be on the school board, but then ask what they are...meaning you don't know. If you want to argue about education, first you must grasp what the creditials are to be on the boards, to be a teacher, or a administrator. For instance, the majority of coutnies, and espeically in Maryland you must have a 4 yr degree, and have passed the Praxis Exam ( I have done that), and they also require you to have a Master's Degree after teaching for a certain amount (or it is recommended), and to be a Administrator, one must have a Master's...many have Phds. Many posisitions require some teaching experience....many Admins, try to get away from the teaching, because kids and the parents are bad (that is across the nation), so they don't want to deal with it. I come from a family of educators. I have a dual degree in History-Secondary Education...but, I do not teach...I also know teachers as well
You go on about assumptions, yet you don't know the whole story, neither do i, you only have what is written...as I said before in another thread that there are thre sides to each story, your's, mine, and the truth...One must understand the qualifications to be on the board, the board's rules and regs, why she moved to Maryland, or does she have a temporary home there, a winter home, or is she going thru a divorce? All angles must be analyzed...
Also, I mentioned the PTA because someone else mentioned it...actually I believe if more people in the inner cities were in the PTA that many things would change in those schools.
