Shooter confirmed dead of self-inflicted gunshot wound

There are reports that three people have died.
10:30 a.m. update: Lt. Rob Van Diest of the Reno Police Department said one person has been confirmed dead.Four victims have been transported to Carson-Tahoe Hospital in Carson City. Three of them are in surgery.
Four victims were transported to Renown Regional Medical Center, two in critical condition and two with less-serious injuries.

10:23 a.m. update: Kurt Althof, public relations manager for Care Flight, said helicopters from all three of their bases — Reno, Truckee and Gardnerville, were called to the scene at 9 a.m.
He said that so far, three shooting victims have been transported to Renown Regional Medical Center, at least two of them in critical condition. The victims transported so far are two women and one man.
A fourth victim was transported to Renown by the East Fork Fire Protection District ambulance out of Gardnerville. That victim’s condition is not known.

10:15 a.m. update: Ralph Swagler, owner of Locals Barbecue in the same strip mall as the IHOP, said he saw a man wearing a red shirt and black shorts pull up outside the IHOP in a blue minivan.
Swagler said the man had a rifle. He shot and killed a man on a motorcycle, then walked inside the IHOP and started shooting.
Swagler said the man spent several minutes there, then walked back outside into the parking lot and began firing into the Locals Barbecue and an H&R Block in the strip mall.
“This happens in third-world countries, not here,” Swagler said.

10:09 a.m. update: There is a report that some of the bullets from the shooting entered the Fandango Casino across the street.
Two more ambulances have taken victims to Renown Regional Medical Center. One was shot in the knee. One ambulance was from East Fork Fire Paramedics in Douglas County and the other was a REMSA ambulance.

10:05 a.m. update: A spokeswoman for the Carson City School District said that no schools went on alert as a result of the shooting at Ihop on south Carson Street that left seven victims.

9:45 a.m. update: The first victim loaded onto a helicopter was an older man and he appeared to be speaking to emergency crews, Gazette-Journal reporter Bi O'Driscoll reported.

9:40 a.m. update: RGJ reporter Brian Duggan is on the scene and reports that Carson Street is backed up for miles in both directions.
He has seen two ambulances and one Care Flight helicopter leave the scene.
Dozens of emergency vehicles are on the scene at Casino Fandango, across the street from the Carson International House of Pancakes.

9:36 a.m. update: The Carson City Sheriff's Office reports it still treating victims and it has not determined the motive behind the shooting.

9:28 a.m. update: The Carson City Sheriff's Office reports that the IHOP is clear and the building is secure.

9:24 a.m. update:Traffic on South Carson Street is shut down at Clear View Lane and at Koontz Street because of the shooting.
Helicopters are expected to arrive shortly to pick up victims.

There is a report of seven gunshot victims in the IHOP in the 3800 block of South Carson Street in Carson City.
They are sending several ambulances and calling for Care Flight.
The shooter is reportedly down.
