Very good thread here. I shop at Save-A-Lot, myself. VERY, VERY similar to Aldi's. Pretty much the same damn store. I, also, on occasion, shop at Gordon Foods. Use to work there when I was younger, in fact. Their pre-cooked Pub Burgers are to die for !!!!!!!!! That's only if you LOVE burgers though. And, I, LLLOOOOOVVVVEEEEEEE burgers ! LOL. Btw, Princess, you ever try Aldi's Chicken Salad ?? Yum yummy !!!

Btw, Princess, you ever try Aldi's Chicken Salad ?? Yum yummy !!! Is that mayo based? No, I've never tried it.
This week - Special Buy (ie; while supplies last)$1.19 Not what I expected, and you'd have to rinse to have it look like the label, BUT, very very good. I can see throwing a can or two in a pot of chilli this winter. OR, for those of you who don't cook, just open a can, throw in some cooked diced, chicken or beef and it would be a complete meal. I just sprinkled a few spoonfuls over a salad.

It turns out they're pretty good, too; not sour like they can often be this time of year.

Avocados at our stores are $0.49/piece, and they are HUGE!! I've got six sitting on the kitchen bistro table ripening right now, plus one in the fridge that's ready to be used from the last purchase. Actually, I thought they were a good price last time I bought them for $1.00 ea.
I love their produce!

Dear Princess L, thank you for nudging me in aldi's direction!!! I was a snob about where I shopped until my wife had to retire do to health reasons. We lost over 20 grand a year, so it was hard to justify spending lots of $$$$ on bodybuilding food. I can go to aldi's with $40.00 and come home with LOTS of eggs, oatmeal, produce etc... Their greek yogurt is all natural and tastes great!! Thanks again, barretta.

We just had a bunch of Bottom Dollar stores open throughout our area. I haven't checked them out yet, but my parents stopped in one the other week and said it's pretty decent: lots of generic off-label items with good prices.
I'm glad to see places like this, Aldi's, and GFS giving the larger chains a run for their money. Lots of people I talk to are fed up with the huge grocery stores' prices.

I think they got a bad rap years ago for some reason, but their stuff is good quality - very high turnover, so stuff is always fresh.
They're carrying FAGE now - $3.29/17oz.
Grapefruits are .29 each.

For Fage, nothing beats costco. NOTHING! My favorite night snack is now a bowl of 0% fage, handfull of slivered almonds with a shower of honey. Oh so good!
