the exclusion of the first 250k profit for single or 500k for couple only ever applied to primary residecnce

in the example you gave, if you sell a rental and make a small profit you have the normal capital gains tax and you would only be subject to the addtional tax if you AGI > 200k

i knew you were subject to capital gains rates as it is a code section 1231 asset however i thought you still were subject to the additional tax.

The smart people ie scientists like physicists discover things like quantum mechanics, particle physics (fact within those theories)etc and apply them to the real world, like lasers, computers and cell phones. Then corporate america buys the technology and whores it. This is where the stupids come in.

The biochemists discover the receptors and create drugs to target these resulting in drugs, the pharmaceutical companies provide the capital to do so and then mark up the drug substantially. They have nothing to do with production of the product, nor are they involved in the research. I could give 100s of other examples but the point is that when stupid people like bachmann, palin, etc get involved they fuck things up. Rubio not knowing the age of the earth yet being on a committee that oversee's science amongst other things is retarded. It's a fact that is required knowledge before leaving highschool.

I have my issues with the left movement if you will, however, I have more of an issue with the right's object stupidity lately. Nice post? Are you serious?   I don't even know where to start with this.  You're so typical it's downright scary.
 You quite simply have a child's understanding of how we are able to manufacture and distribute drugs or any product that requires a development stage and hefty amounts of research.  You're trying to imply that the scientists and the "smart people" have no profit motive, and the evil corporations snatch these patents from them and "mark up prices".  You know.  Cuz they're evil.
Let's stay with your drug example.  Two things need to happen in order to get drugs out into the market in order for the general polulation to benefit.  First the drug needs to be created.  This is done by scientists in research labs funded by those evil greedy corporations.  You know.  The "bad guys".Those scientists that you deem the "good guys" come out of school looking for jobs with these corporations so that they can raise a family and take home a fat paycheck and buy the things that they want and need.  You make it sound like they're just sitting in a basement somewhere doing this out of the goodness of their hearts.
Now they have to get these drugs tested, tested, and tested again and again, cleared by the FDA and given the OK to manufacture and distribute.  This all costs money.  You do understand this right?  I don't know anyone who works in that field that works for free.  
Do some of these markups get out of hand?  Yes.  Is it because the corporations are evil and stupid?  Quite simply no.  They have shareholders and employees to pay.  They have research teams to test the safety of the drug over and over and over again so your kid doesn't die when he/she takes said drug.  They have logistical issues with how to manufacture the drugs in mass production and how to get them safely into your little hands.  In order to turn a profit yes a lot of these markups have to be very very high.  And yes none of this shit will be done(and more importantly done right) unless someone is turning a profit.  You liberal lemmings really need to understand this.  This is real life.  Not the feel good movie of the year.  
This is a 3 day seminar type of discussion that we're having but I know (because I'm an adult) that the answer is not as easy as "corporations are bad" and "the smart scientists are good".  You are the typical american voter though so it's hard to blame you.  This is the only information you're given on a daily basis and you simply refuse to take any of this information at face value.  Ridiculous. the difference between you and I is quite simple actually.  You believe in what makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.  I believe in looking at a problem, picking it apart, and making changes that will achieve a desired result.  And the confidence that you have in the dribble that you type on here is what scares me the most.  Because there's millions just like you.

and Necrosis this is by far your most ignorant statement.  you do understand that there are many PHD lab rats who go on to become board members and/or upper management of these corporations that they work for right?  my cousin's husband actually took this exact path.  i don't think he turned evil once he got his appointment to the board.
