I fly the General Lee Headquarters ( a rare flag) on a 20 foot flag pole in front of my ( MOM'S )house and for good reason as the town was one of the few left intact from the war and it has never changed since 1865.  All of the most prominent Confederate Generals lived here as well as Robert E. Lee`s purchasing agents and daughter. There is a Confederate monument here.  

There is no reason whatsoever that we should forget our History.  None whatsoever.  Furthermore, Robert E. Lee was an abolitionist at heart as was Stonewall Jackson. Slavery is of course an abomination, but the South treated Blacks much better pre and post slavery than the North.

I was more referring to the time frame of 1840-1885.  Not the Jim Crow era.  Blacks were shot in the street, left to fend for themselves and confined to most rat infested areas in the North.  This was not so in the South at all.  In the South, you lived and worked on the Plantation and even in the main house.  There was ample food and opportunities were available.  They became expert Craftsmen, skilled Masons, Artisans of all kinds.  In the North, they were allowed nothing.  They were given ZERO opportunity and left to die in the street.  The north had no use for them.

Yep.  Too many to count.  Most wished to remain with the family they lived with and worked for for decades.  Also, they certainly did not want to be separated from their kin.  The majority did not go North.  There was nothing there for them at all.  Reconstruction further provided more Opportunity for blacks than the North did.  Especially for the Black Craftsmen and Artisans.  They were already well known Before and During the Civil war in the South, but in the North they were useless and would be given no opportunity to practice their craft.  The Large Majority stayed and some had profitable businesses in the South and even Government positions.  The North, once again, did not provide any of these opportunities.

Lincoln did not free all of the slaves you know with the Emancipation Proclamation.

I was at the store just the other day and a fellow had a Confederate Flag on his shirt, License Plate on his truck and he was talking to a younger black woman.  The Conversation was completely pleasant on both sides.

Black people in the South understand and do have Confederate pride themselves.  I see it every single day.
