So you reckon it was rec drugs combined with the bodybuilding lifestyle?

He was 280lbs with MASSIVE drug abuse (steroids + GH + ??) that cannot be healthy on the heart.

The real story is

Art Atwood was walking through his condo complex by the pool when he suffered a massive heart attack.  He fell into the pool, people immediately rushed to help. Paramedics came pretty quickly, but couldn't help him.  Family is devastated.

Very sad, but I was just about to post this when I saw your post. When they said he was blue coming out of the water that made me wonder if he wasn't already dead as he hit the water.

If you want to see what a guy looks like who is next, after 15 years GH, insulana, hormones, and narcotics, google former IFBB pro Justin Rys. Sad thing is, these all seem to be really nice guys...

I have to word this in a vague way.

Do not know details of Atwood death but I do know details of a guy that died while training shoulders he was DEAD before he hit the floor and IMMEDIATLEY turned BLUE.

IF he was blue coming out of the water and he was NOT in there for more than minutes than his HEART EXPOLODED. VERY VERY VERY SAD.

Yeah true, I witnessed a guy die from a massive heart attack. He was dead when he hit the floor. I'll never forget the look on his face.  :-\

When i was working secondary employment as a police officer at a hotel where the North American show was some years ago, I met Art Atwood. He was very nice and even bought my father in law a drink when my family came to see me after a show downtown while working to say hi. Rest in peace brother.

He was playing raquetball 51 yrs old. Not a lifter and ran a lot too. Got a clean bill of health the week before. I am assuming that he went to the Dr because he wasn't feeling good.

I googled that thing.

Ok, he looks old. OLD. and he has over-partied face.

We all chose our path in life.

All this meat muscle mass now feeding the worms... The irony.

lol at the "he was a good guy" comments when you didnt even know him... A good guy on steroids and recreational drugs who died drowning in a pool at a party...yeah must really have been a great guy lol..

What was his job, did he have kids and a wife ?

No "MAYBE" pal. I write from EXPERIENCE and I SMELL BULLSHITE before it happens.

I don't know whether or not Atwood snorted coke. I CAN say that If a person looks 50 and is 37 and dies from a massive heart attack then MOST LIKELY he was doing SOME KIND of NARCOTICS.
