He's still at or near the top in the polls.
He got a rousing ovation, responding to a CNBC panelist, who tried to lampoon him with this issue Wednesday night.

As for his accusers, first there aren't five. The alleged 5th one simply complained about being asked to dinner during a conference and claimed Cain stiffed her and her friends with a $400 wine tab.

The other two anonymous one have said ZILCH.

Bialek is a broke gold-digger, who just happens to live in the same building with David Axelrod and owes him thousands of dollars. She has a history of screwing her bosses (with a now-13-year-old son to prove it). And, to top it all off, she was seen taking pics and hugging Cain a month ago, with her behavior described as "flirtatious".

We now learn that Axelrod's buddy, Sheila O'Grady (from the Illinois Restaurant Association) dug up Cain's NRA files. And, as has been observed, it's just too cozy that all of Cain's known accusers and their associates just happen to come from Chicago, where Cain has never lived (as far as we know).

Kraushaar, the previously anonymous one, who got $46,000 in a severance deal, made bogus sexual harassment charges as her subsequent job at the NRA. To this day, she has yet to give the specifics of what Cain supposedly did, despite being cleared to do so for a week. Furthermore, she has conveniently CANCELED her big press conference, because she doesn't want to do it alone or just with Bialek.

Cain's continued support seems to be showing that most people see this mess for the hit job that it is.

The lawyer for one of Herman Cain's sexual harassment accusers said today that there won't be a press conference featuring each of the female accusers.

Karen Kraushaar’s attorney, Joel Bennet told The New York Times that they were unable to set up the joint news conference, and will not speak further.

Bennett told The Times: 'She will have no further comment until that time and she and I will not be granting any interviews to the media before any such press conference.'

Kraushaar, the second Cain accuser to be named in the scandal, told the paper earlier this week that she was interested in joining the other women in speaking publicly.

 

Rough translation: "I know this was all about standing up for the victims of harassment and justice in the workplace. But, now I can't do it, because I've been exposed as a serial harassment screamer and my blonde buddy, as a broke gold-digger with ties to Obama administration cronies."

And, wasn't it Bennett who been proclaiming for a week and a half that Kraushaar's been eager to talk about the specifics of her charges? Last time, the excuse was the confidentiality clause (which NRA waived last week); this time, she won't do it by herself or with just her and Bialek. What's the excuse now?

However generally accurate a lie detector might be, no one believes they’re 100 percent accurate. If you sit down and stake your reputation on a good result, your candidacy’s at the mercy of the machine. Any Cain fans out there seriously want him to roll the dice on a polygraph in hopes of killing this story dead?

His best chance of killing this story, actually, are the small holes being punched in Bialek’s and Kraushaar’s credibility. The latest from CNN:

Like Kraushaar said the other day: Safety in numbers.
