If you've seen the photo I posted of myself at fourteen, you don't even need to ask why I got interested in bodybuilding....plus I am vain, always have been. This helps a lot.

Oh and then there are the thongs.....always liked being as legally naked as possible. LOL.

Never picked up a weight until I was 20...worked out in the confines of an unused hangar bay with rusty weights on the ship I was stationed on.  The guy that really inspired me to pick up the weights on a full time basis was none other than Craig Titus, lol.  Used to see him in the Flex mags I'd buy religiously every month and just really liked his look.

My friend showed me that issue of Flex magazine with the dorian black and white photos pre 93 olympia. I could not believe a human being could look like that. So I raced down to hi-health and got a 'can' of X-rated rapid weight gain lol. And so began years of pissing money away on snake oil.

I bought my first Nasser El Sonbaty official, used gym belt. I breathed in the scent of the beautiful man with glasses and my DNA instantly unlocked my potential.

Ever since that moment, I knew bodybuilding wasn't the shallow male version of stripping or the online circle jerk of egotists but was rather much more.

I liked bodybuilding because it was an individual sport. Then one day I saw the "Lee Haney Workout" on ESPN. I was impressed by his build and by his personality. Then one day I was walking through the grocery store and saw a Flex Magazine with Haney on the cover. So I bought it.

My parents in the beginning, when I started bodybuilding... they didn't know really what it is. Until I introduced my father to bodybuilding, and I took him to all the gymnasiums. And he then started picking up weights, and making his arms strong and so on. And then they started liking what l did!

Especially after l won the first international competition which was the first contest I ever entered. So when I came home with my trophy, my parents were very proud of me, and they said, ''My son, that's my son. ''

My father was a police chief and we had a very strict upbringing because of him being with the police force. We had to be the perfect example. We couldn't do anything bad. And it was kind of an uptight feeling at home because of it. I always felt like my place is America. I only dreamed of coming to America and being the greatest.


And just being different than everybody else.
