I've been on insulin for years, I know what it does. Insulin is definitely not crap...the recommend 10g of carbs/IU is bullshit, though, only will get you fat. Carbs are necessary though...i've gone hypo from not having carbs in a certain time frame (I use log)

with humalog yes you need some carbs... as it peaks hard!! and fast...
lantus can be used wit a low carb diet, no problem... lantus does not peak.....
and even with humalog... if you eat enough protein you will not go hypo... gluconeogenesis (typed it correctly?? lol!) but why someone would do that , beats me....
but the need for carbs is greatly exaggerated...
did you ever see a pro measuring his food, to make sure that he got in the 10g of carbs per iu?

i remember a dutch pro... shooting humalog and hgh before every meal.... do you think these were clean meals?

? no! chinese food, pizza , but a lot of chinese food... he loved it...
and the dose was high 30/40 iu of humalog... hgh kept him from getting fat... slin pushed it all into the muscles...
he is sick nowadays..... insulin ruins health.... really....not the steroids and hgh... it's insulin that gets bodybuilders sick... and not 10 iu's a dose.. lol.... 30/40... every meal...
