Everytime someone is murdered in America, or there's a school shooting, I can't help but think it's because there aren't enough guns.

Zimmerman for POTUS

he'd probably do better in 2012 than romney.   at least zimmerman is consistently an angry a-hole.... felony assault on a cop. domestic abuse, now chasing and shooting a kid.

romney, on the other hand, voted for an assault weapons ban and required an individual mandate for healthcare (translation: Obamacare) when he was governor.

So yeah, zimmerman (a registered dem) is probably a better conservative than Romney.

The anti-romney vote was consistently 65 to 70%.

he only won for two reasons - first of all, newt, rpaul, and santorum cut up the votes - had they gotten on the same page, they would have defeated romney.  And,

2) Money.  He barely edged out santorum when it was just him, and he was outspending him 5 to 1 or even 6 to 1.

Against obama, mitt won't have a money advantage, it'll be even (or obama will do what he did in 2008 and get tons of donations).

Right now, INTRADE, the world gambling agency, has obama at 61%, and romney at 38%.  This isn't some local yahoo poll which changes by the week.  This is the people of the world willing to risk millions of dollars on the outcome of our election.  They know their shit

i guess. it's just hard to think that people can be swayed so easily just because of an ad campaign and not even bother researching the facts.

Why George Zimmerman May Be Hard To Convict (Any legal people here to dissect this?)

When a man shot and killed a boy on a rainy night on the streets of Sanford Florida, because he looked suspicious and the man took it upon himself to investigate this person wearing a hoodie, the State District Attorney filed second degree murder charges against the adult, but may have inadvertently have all the charges of murder dismissed or find him not guilty.

The State of Florida Special Prosecutor Angela Corey has charged George Zimmerman for second degree murder against Trayvon Martin, which according to Florida’s law may get Zimmerman life in prison. But there seems to be a catch. According to Florida’s law, to prove second degree murder, the State of Florida must prove the following three elements beyond a reasonable doubt:

1.The victim is dead; 2.The death was caused by the criminal act of the defendant; 3.There was an unlawful killing of the victim by an act imminently dangerous to another and demonstrating a depraved mind without regard for human life. 01) Travon Martin is dead. Zimmerman claimed he killed him in self defense.

02) When the 911 operator said to not get involved, Zimmerman disobeyed the operator and confronted Martin. By not obeying the order, this can be grounds for obstruction of justice, an arrestable offense, therefore, satisfying two of three within the laws of second degree murder.

03) There was an unlawful killing of the victim by an act imminently dangerous to another and demonstrating a depraved mind without regard for human life may be the issue here.

According to Merriam Webster Online Dictionary, the word depraved says: marked by corruption or evil; especially : perverted. The State has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Zimmerman’s mind was corrupt or evil or even perverted. Also what is reasonable doubt?

Reasonable doubt: Prosecution must be proven to the extent that there could be no “reasonable doubt” in the mind of a “reasonable person” that the defendant is guilty.

So is there any doubt that Zimmerman’s mind was corrupt, evil or perverted? The defense may say that he was concerned about the safety and well being of the community and that his intentions were to protect property and Zimmerman who gave chase, was a victim of Martin, who pounced on him, started to smash his head against the concrete and Zimmerman had no choice but to shoot Zimmerman to defend himself. If Zimmerman sticks with that story, the jury would have no choice but to say not guilty. On the other hand, the D.A. can still file manslaughter charges.

According to Florida law: Manslaughter is the unlawful killing of a human being without malice aforethought. Manslaughter may be voluntary or involuntary. Essentially, the difference between manslaughter and murder is that manslaughter was the result of an accident, heat of passion, or some other act in which the person does not have the mental state to commit a murder.

Involuntary manslaughter: To establish involuntary manslaughter, the prosecutor must show that the defendant acted with “culpable negligence.” Florida statutes define culpable negligence as a disregard for human life while engaging in wanton or reckless behavior. The state may be able to prove involuntary manslaughter by showing the defendant’s recklessness or lack of care when handling a dangerous instrument or weapon, or while engaging in a range of other activities that could lead to death if performed recklessly. Example: If the defendant handles a loaded gun without any knowledge of whether the gun is loaded, and he later discharges the gun into a group of people, the defendant’s actions likely meet the recklessness requirement for a charge of involuntary manslaughter.

Florida state laws also establish involuntary manslaughter if the prosecutor shows that the defendant used excessive force during self-defense or the defense of another person. The prosecution and defense can look at the facts and circumstances of the killing to determine whether the defendant reasonably believed that self-defense was necessary; if not necessary, the state might proceed with an involuntary manslaughter charge.

If the D.A. cannot prove that the Zimmerman was depraved, then legally, Zimmerman is a free man and under the double jeopardy rules, he cannot be tried again for the same crime…but then there is federal court.

Then release the report. Stop pretending this kid was some type of choir boy.

If the kid was high like Zimmerman thought, the Reverends Jesse and Al are going to look mighty silly.

i agree with gare but yes, the kid was nowhere near a saint (i posted some stuff from his twitter earlier in the thread), although if anything the THC would make you less aggressive, then again with all these "urban youth" flying off the handle at the most minor things nowadays i wouldn't be too surprised.

Maybe the THC made him paranoid, and he felt someone was following him?

it's definitely possible. although as long as he didn't have any on him though, im sure no one would even have bothered to test him, surely he knew that.

Trayvon Martin's killer showed signs of injury: neighbors
Reuters ^ | April 16, 2012 | Chris Francescani
Posted on April 16, 2012 7:39:25 PM EDT by Free ThinkerNY

SANFORD, Florida (Reuters) - Neighbors of George Zimmerman say he had bandages on his nose and head the day after he shot dead Trayvon Martin, supporting statements by the neighborhood watch volunteer that he was beaten in a confrontation with the black Florida teenager.

The extent of Zimmerman's injuries could be crucial to his legal defense under Florida's "Stand Your Ground" self-defense law, which allows the use of deadly force when someone has the reasonable belief he could face death or great bodily harm.

Police said Zimmerman, who has been charged with second-degree murder in the racially charged case, was bleeding from the nose and the back of his head and was treated by medics before being taken to Sanford police station after the February 26 shooting.

But public doubts were later raised by the release of a grainy surveillance video from the police station in which no injuries were readily visible.

Zimmerman later sought medical treatment for injuries including a broken nose, his former lawyers have said.

Jorge Rodriguez, Zimmerman's next-door neighbor, told Reuters that when he saw Zimmerman the day after the incident, "he had two big, butterfly bandages on the back of his head, and another big bandage...on the bridge of his nose." He was talking to a police detective in his driveway.

ABC News: Photo taken after Trayvon Martin shooting shows bloody George Zimmerman

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. —

WFTV just learned Friday morning about a picture of gunman George Zimmerman, taken just three minutes after the shooting that left 17-year-old Trayvon Martin dead.

The picture reportedly shows cuts on the back of Zimmerman's head, with blood trickling down.

Zimmerman, who shot and killed 17-year-old Martin on February 26 in a gated Sanford community, claimed he killed Martin in self-defense. Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder for the shooting death of Martin.

The picture would seem to back up Zimmerman's claim that Martin slammed his head against the sidewalk.

That picture could be part of the evidence shown to the judge in court Friday morning during Zimmerman's bond hearing.

ABC News is breaking more on this story on Good Morning America at 7 a.m. on Channel 9. We'll have more on Central Florida's TV 27 at 7 a.m.

Meanwhile, Trayvon Martin's parents will come face to face for the first time with Zimmerman on Friday.

Zimmerman is due in a Seminole County courtroom for a bond hearing at 9 a.m.

After a week and a half behind bars, Zimmerman may be walking out of jail to await trial on a second-degree murder charge.

The parents of 17-year-old Martin are expected in the courtroom during the bond hearing.

Zimmerman's attorney Mark O'Mara will likely argue to Judge Kenneth Lester that Zimmerman is not a flight risk, pointing to fact that Zimmerman turned himself in immediately when charges were filed.

Judge Lester must decide if Zimmerman will be offered bond.
