Doesn't adrenaline kick in and take care of that strength???

That's a good point, but if adrenaline was all I ever needed baby I wouldn't be spending 5 days a week battling it out in the amplitheatre of pain wearing my flag nor fail hotpants  ;D

hey flintstone, dont be such a pussi ;D

just train them a bit less intense, they are very important for overal development, when they got some muscle on them, it boosts metabolism etc.

haha i remember, after years off training, the first time i went and did squats, i went to the gym when noone was there, just to make sure nobody witnesses the followup fiasco ;D

i did squats with a whooping 100lbs, few sets with few reps and it felt like my legs would break ;D

For some people, it's any excuse not to train legs lol

I have progressive multiple sclerosis, meaning that I can choose on leg day to preserve my energy so I can walk most of the day, or I can squat my ass off, followed up by heavy leg presses calves press and hams and fk myself up for a couple of days.

I choose not to be a pussy  8)

Any leg training is better than no leg training.  People need to train around their bodies/injuries etc and if you can't do certain exercises then you find another leg exercise to substitute it best you can.  I hate seeing guys in the gym who do absolutely no leg training at all and have development up top and zero below their waists..its my pet hate!

Totally agree! Even if you don't want to/can't do squats etc you can still lunge/press/quad raise etc etc at a level that suits you and make good advances on your lower body.

Gym rats with casper the ghost legs, is as bad as a big boobs and no ass lol

THE SQUAT

Down this road, in a gym far away,
a young man was heard to say,
"no matter what i do, my legs won't grow"
he tried leg extensions, leg curls, and leg presses , too
trying to cheat, these sissy workouts he'd do.

from the corner of the gym where the big men train,
through a cloud of chalk and the midst of pain
where the noise is made with big forty fives,
a deep voice bellowed as he wrapped his knees.
a very big man with legs like trees.

laughing as he snatched another plate from the stack
chalking his hands and monstrous back,
said, "boy, stop lying and don't say you've forgotten,
the trouble with you is you ain't been SQUATTIN'. "

the worst is the women who dont train legs properly and think 2sets on abductor machine while chit chatting before 20 minutes of cardio will fix their problem areas.

then they followup that "workout" with having a meal at restaraurant consisting of processed food, sugary sodas and something alcoholic as an ender, lol.

or the best of the best, when men on steroids who dont train legs are afraid of general overtraining, haha.

 ;D

and ofc the notorious "i dont want my legs to be to big", yeah right, after a decade of training with and without gear, i have developed very lean legs measuring 23 inches, hardly monster legs, some fatsos have bigger legs in circumferenc, no doubt, but to get massive muscular legs, thats not gonna happen overnight, hellno
This! Chicks are for fags!  :D

Fuck it I'm DONE with legs. Sitting here with my shirt drenched in sweat nauscious as all hell.

I know you guys gave me shit for not training them but every time I ended up hitting them hard, I end up sicker than a dog. Break out into a cold sweat, find my way to the closest gym bathroom and find myself laying over a toilet so I can puke my brains out. just AINT wORTH IT fellas

Guys in the gym w no legs and working only chest, shoulders, and back end up looking so ridiculous its not even funny.

If anything, you should focus more of your efforts on legs and back than everything else.

Making OP look like a Nancy Boy with your work ethic. Ya I'd venture to guess his cardiovascular endurance sucks balls, that's why a halfway decent leg workout is just torture for him. I still puke maybe 1/4 leg days, but usually its if I overheat and just don't get enough breaths between sets. Love that feeling though.

your out of shape simple as that.... I once had this prob too. everytime i did legs i would puke.  So i lost a bunch of fat, by changing my diet and eating much cleaner.  I also got my cardio strength up by biking everyother day.  Biking outside is much less boring than doing cardio in a gym, but do what works for you.  Now im hammering out legs like nothing.  Havnt even come close to puking.

No worries man,

To be honest there are some days where any kind of 'extra activity' i.e. outside of getting to work, dressing the kids etc are a big NO. But most days, I will time my workout for when I have the most conserved energy, or if my time window is set for the gym, I will have to really go easy all day or i'll mess it up.

By 'go easy' I literally mean don't leave the office at lunch to get food, avoid the stairs - maybe even use my lunch break for a 30min nap.

A good analogy is having a certain amount of chips (as in casino) at the start of each day, and deciding how to spend them. Most people have an unlimited amout of chips, and so give or take a couple of hundred it's not a concern - however with PPMS (primary progressive MS) using too many chips in monday, fucks up tuesday BIG time.

Training - It is endurance that mainly causes a problem with lifting, because MS is a central nervous system disease (the protective sheath around my nerve cables is damaged/eating itself lol) so it takes probably twice the energy to send a signal for my bicep to contract per rep as it used to before I was sick.

I get round this as I said by starting my workout with as much energy as I can conserve, and I stick to a 5X5 program or thereabouts, with some burning sets at the end of each workout (final exercise I will go until failure / cables / conc. curls / leg raises etc)

Squats I had to adjust because they are HARD on the nervous system anyway. I used to love 20 rep squats, but now I do more like 5 x 5 (but damn heavy) with a final set of 15 at a lower weight to finish off.

Things that piss me off about MS:

1. If my body temp goes up by just a couple of degrees (cycling, weights in summer, walking too far, yardwork etc) I get double vision, and very weak, so have to sit down for 20 mins just to regain sight, energy etc.

2. ringing in my ears - constant and very loud (due to damage to cranial nerve that supplies the ear)

3. I have very bad balance - again due to damage in the brain stem

4. After I excercise, or even walk for a while my speech gets very slurred/almost like drunk slurred until I have rested.

But all said and done, I have a beatiful family, I don't take myself seriously enough to moan to people about my illness, and I see countless people all the time who are in such a bad way - how can I compare to that. I work full time, I train and lead a busy life so there is so much to be thankful for
