What I think works and thus currently take:

Protein shakes
BCAAs
Creatine
Arginine supplements
Multivitamins
Glucosamine

What I've wasted my money on in the past:

Andro Poppers by pinnacle
Myostatin blocking protein also by pinnacle
Tribbullus Terresteris
I'm sure there is more I can't think of now!

Oh man...disposable income and no internet...nothing but Weider mags, Twinlab's Muscular Development nd later, the Phillip's Bros to draw on.  I got raped....I bought Boron and Vanadyl sulfate for God's sake...

LOL, I bought boron as well. It was claimed to raise testosterone by 70%, it does do this------------------------ in geriatric women...seriously :)

a semi-clean diet and 2-3lbs of a GOOD powder mix from TrueProtein and i'm 16-18lbs thinner and pushing more weight.  A true testament to the legitimacy of that company vs the brand name sugar powder packers such as MuscleScam and Garpari.

From personal trial, I've come to the conclusion that at least 80% of supplements are useless and/or unnecessary. This is part of the other 20%:

Apetite control, major mood boost, and sick energy all in one.
Wasn't that found to be spiked with Amphetamines ?

True story, when creatine first came out I used a tub of EAS.  In about a month my bench went up 10 to 15 lbs and I had plateaued for months, couldn't do an extra pound to save my life.  I was using nothing else.  Also when I was using it I noticed right away that I had to take a leak every two hours which was unusual for me.  Next time I tried it which was about a year later, NOTHING! I have tried a few different types occasionally and nothing ever came close to the kick I got the first time.  All I can think is that the first batch must have been dosed with something, maybe to get guys hooked, I don't know.  Anyone else experience this?

I believe some lab tests proved otherwise. I doubt the product is any more or less dangerous than ephedra and 1-3 Dimeth, and those got banned.

It's funny--over at BB.com, you get at least 1 or 2 new posters a week who seem to set up accounts just to slag Craze.

Twinlab's Gainers Fuel.....Twinlab Amino's (those HUGE horse pills). Tried Vanadyl back in 1993. EVERYBODY was taking it!

Ultimate Orange was a great product though. Made you jacked the entire workout

There was an ON and OFF cycle.  Even when pro-hormones were legal they weren't allowed to ship or be sold in Cali, but of course that never stopped me from getting it.  But the shit was insane.

I used to swear that vanadyl game me great vascularity until I found out it was toxic.  But one thing for sure.....

Nothing in this world smelled as foul or disgusting as Vanadyl farts.

been taking supps. since 1981,over the years what i have found to work is a good protien powder, multi species are best, but a good whey does have its place, beverly and labrada seem to be the best around, quality liver tabs are good for adding extra protien when on a restricted diet,i use various preworkout drinks to jakk up my workouts, and creatine seems to help for strength, only noticed weight gain the first time i used it,also vitamins are good for what they are intended for,but healthy eating is more important for that.

MET-RX! ... I spent about $1000 on that POS before I realized it was all nonsense.  The marketing behind that product was ingenuis though... good old Bill Phillips (I hope he dies a miserable death!).  All Met-Rx is was a protein drink with some food gums to add texture and thickness.  The program was based on eating less calories, less carbs and working out 5-6 days a week... how revolutionary! -lol

I know Cybergenetics was another one that bilked many young nyophytes out of lots of money too.  The marketing was huge, but not as creative as Met-Rx.  Bill Phillips had many people in the industry pushing Met-Rx... especially his golden boy Dr Scott Connelly (if I ever meet him I'm going to punch him in the mouth).

It's amusing to look back on my teens and early twenties to realize how much I DIDN'T know.  I see the same thing with kids in the gym today... I want to reach out and shake some sense into them, but they would never listen anyway.

Don't get fooled kids... BBing supplement marketing adds are just a bunch of lies.  Your BBing heroes do not take any of these supplements... they save their money for real supplements like roids and GH.

I remember some of those ads...Troy Aikman who was the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys back then was in one commercial claiming he used it and it had creatine in it....(creatine  was new then)

Creatine did work for me in that I looked bigger and it got me harder....but the gains went away quick when I stopped using it and now it does nothing for me....Protein powder has been good for me but again I got the same results eating food.....

I remember believing Nitro-Tech's claims....didn't do shit.....and cell-tech used to burn my asshole every time I took a shit
