cats are very smart.. their intelligence is just not the same type as dogs.. they cant be easily trained to obey your orders as dogs to sit and come and go but this doesnt make them less intelligent..
We built a heated outdoor cat house for our cat and she didn`t help one bit.  >:(   It took her almost a week to realize she was supposed to go in it instead of on top of it.  :D

sure dogs are smarter in many things but what i meant is that there are many types of intelligence,.. for example hunting skills show intelligence and here cats are better than dogs.. but because dogs are clever in communicating with ppl we consider them smart.. in other words u can compare the intelligence of 2 dogs but not the intelligence of a dog and that of a cat or any other animal..

TA I have to say you're wrong on this, let me explain (I took care of a cat colony for almost 20 years so I learned a thing or two).

The cat didn't go inside because if there is the possibility of an hostile dog nearby it would be fatal.
Before going inside to sleep the cat must be absolutely sure there are no dogs.
I found a couple of times dead cats who find themselves trapped with no way out in a "cat house" like you kindly build.

That's mental. My mum has just took in a stray tomcat that weighs 7kg and he has a head like a pumpkin.

A 13kg cat's head must be massive.

We have 2 dogs and 4 "feral" (not really anymore) cats.  We have a cat house with a heat lamp in the garage in the winter.  They love it.  The dogs and cats basically ignore eachother.  We just put down a 5th cat - the matriarch.  She was about 13.
