Vasily Alekseyev was also 300 + lbs for most of his life, how much of being a sedimentary adult, plus carrying that weight did him in?

Rigert, Pisarenko, Lowe, lots of Chinese weightlifters, etc..... are still pretty decent.

It's a repetitive use injury, it happens. It also doesn't help that most SHW Lifters carry heaps of weight well past their prime.
