Don't go in the water, it's nasty. Unless it's only up to your ankles.
If it's not too late, book a cabana. You may have to spring $350-600 depending on location and scarcity, but it's well worth it (especially if you're gonna spend a whole day there with few other ppl to throw you some cash). In my experience with the Vegas pool scene (usually do a pool day when I'm there, so 5 or 6 times over the last decade), it's critical to have your own piece of real estate to serve as a home base. Unless your paying for your spot, it will disappear as soon as you leave to get drink, take a piss, or whatever. The cabanas have TV's, safes, furniture, unlimited water and juice/pop, dedicated server, some have mp3 docking stations, etc.
Also, it's surprising how quick the ladies will stop and talk if you're summoning them from a cabana. Give them a holler, and when they stop invite them over for a beer, drink, etc. I won't do the pool scene again without a piece of real estate, unless i'm only there for a stroll through and to get my feet wet. Cabanas all the way. Have fun dude. Vegas has always been a blast for me. Can't wait to go back next year.
