Not sure what you are asking me here.
Seems to me, the common way of opening a plastic bottle would be exactly as you'd described, that's all.
Of course there is always the possibility that the occasional bottle is fucked up and impossible to open, which may have been the problem here. I merely wanted to let people know that squeezing a squeezable bottle can help force it open. I imagine one might not like the side effects of doing this with carbonated drinks since you'd be putting pressure on the carbonation which could result in someone getting covered is syrupy soda. My wife drinks bottled ice-tea like it is water. I often have to open the bottles for her because her grip strength is even worse than mine.
I recall you mentioning your wife's health problems, Prime. I hope all that caffeine isn't hurting her. And I hope she drinks unsweetened.
