LOCAL, . You could be correct about then death of competitive bb within small local contests, but the NPC itself is growing faster now than any other time in its history.
This growth may be simply due to all the new NPC divisions including age, weight, and height groups ….. but I don’t see any decrease within the NPC bodybuilding membership ranks.
But sin ce membership information is not public knowledge, I could be mistaken.
BUT … When each weight class within an NPC BB contest on the West Coast has 20 or more contestants competing for a pro card or a plastic trophy …… it appears to me that competitive BB is far from dead,
There was a time noT too very long ago when an entire contest would ‘field’ less than 20 contestants ….. and half of them shouldn’t have been up there in the first place.
COMPETITIVE bodybuilding appears to be alive and well and the NPC is growing faster than it ever has.
As far as “Too Many Pros’ …. I tend to agree with you 100 prceent, but only the passage of time will prove if that was a wise or unwise decision.
IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO SEE W HAT THESE NEW BORN PROS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS SUBJECT MATTER.
Maybe B-boy will give some help here.
