Alex, don't know if you saw my Nasser story from my thread at the top of the page. Any way here it is.

On tour with Nasser late 90s.

Nasser was a great guest and very funny even if it was at the expense of everyone else. He hung shit on just about every other pro and although it could seem he was full of hate, a lot of it was tongue in cheek. He would would tell the most incredible and unbelievable stories of the other pros. Sometimes I think he would just see how far he could go before you knew he was bullshitting.

He also had a kind side that he didn't like anyone to see. We went to this restaurant on Sydney Road one night, it was Nepalese from memory and a family was working very hard to keep the doors open. They had the Dad cooking, the Mum serving and a few little kids out the back on broken furniture and on the floor watching a tiny little TV. You could see they were doing it hard and basically had nothing. When we were leaving Nasser said he had forgotten something and went back inside. I watched through the window as he handed over a couple of hundred bucks to the Mum. He came outside and never said a word about it. I thought that showed a lot of class.

Another time in a different restaurant, much more upmarket, we got really bad service. One of us complained when the food came out cold or undercooked or something. Nasser quickly paid the bill and said we are leaving, convinced that chefs spit in your food if ever you complain. With a dead pan, straight face, he warned me to always leave a restaurant in this situation, no exceptions.

On one tour, we had had quite a few bottles of beer on the last night, we had an early start and I dropped him off at the hotel late in the night. After a few hours I returned to get him to the airport. I was exhausted, hungover and just made it out of bed. There he was as fresh as could be, no hangover, all packed up and waiting at the front. When we got to the airport he handed me a big envelope full of 8 X 10 pictures that he had been selling on the tour. He had stayed up and signed every one of them, maybe 50-60. Some he even had left a message like, "Train Hard ............. Your friend, Nasser" leaving blank spaces for their names. When I asked him what they were for, he said "please give them out to the fans that coould not afford to come to the show"

He could be cutting with his opinions and stories but then had this kindness that I have seldom seen.

RIP Nasser.
Thank you for sharing these stories of Nasser. He was truely a great man and is very missed.

It was Nasser's birthday 3 weeks ago. He passed just a little over 6 months ago. I miss him very much. He was a great human being. He first inspired me to bodybuild over 22 years ago and more importantly the last 5 years inspired me to be a better human being and a free thinker who can look beyond what is forced in front of our eyes.

From visiting my home from time to time, just because just to enjoy spending time the four of us, to sharing great bodybuilding anecdotes and copious meals, I'm grateful that we became friends, not ashamed to say looking back to 1992, he was like a superhero to me, larger than life. But his spirits, his individuality and philosophy is what I cherish the most.

GodSpeed Nasser, you are missed. A true mentor, a friend, a role model to all of us.

good to see you back on the boards Alex
i feel exactly as you do re Nasser- the man was a champion not just in BB but in life, a true friend i dearly miss.

We humans are imperfect. Some of you other imperfect ones expect too much of those who have nearly achieved perfection. It is sad that in remembrance you cannot be generous enough to cut those who have passed some slack. Nasser was no god, but a lot of folks genuinely admired him and respected him. If you don't, that's your prerogative. Why can't you just then shut he fuck up with you negative posts about him then?

Thanks Swami and couldn't agree more. We were very close by the end, so I took it hard. I think he knew subconsciously or not that a change was coming. I moved to the bay area in late January but Nasser insisted that we meet at least once more before his trip to Egypt. I was buried in my own shit and it didn't happen. Last I saw him was early Jan at our house. He had lost a lot of weight but was still sharp as 10 euro historians daisy chained together.

While he was in Egypt we spoke once on the phone and exchanged a couple of texts. That's just the man Nasser was; I was going through a tough time with the pregnancy and a little home sick, looking for advice. Nasser smoothly put things back in perspective and helped me see things to look forward to. It worked :)

GodSpeed to his soul. He was truly one of the greatest spirit I've ever met. Kindness, a great sense of humor and mindset on worldviews that would put any "nation leaders" to shame.

A very smart man... who had no clue his internal organs melted after decades of steroid abuse, and only figured it some weeks before it was too late.

Don't be so snide: Nasser was weeks away from proving a theorem that shows which of the variety of string theories on offer is actually correct.

Was that the same episode you called in to get advice on how to extract semen from your lower intestine and asking if Drew or Dr Spaz could comment on if semen usually carries HPV? seems like you had concerns about polyps. You also inquired if a cock tip acts as a plunger suggesting you were looking forward for a second ram. I recall even Alison used to word "loser".

Sorry chief.

unbelievable. he was modest in a way when it came to respect, didnt feel the need to boast his kindness like so many do for attention. and a wise man , could talk to homeless drunk on the street or the mayor, wouldnt matter.

You have many fond memories of time spent with your friend. I hope you have no regrets. Life moves us in strange ways. Hold on to all those good times you shared with your friend. He lives now in your memories. Those memories can bring you much comfort.

As an old man, there have been a lot of people I loved who have passed before me. This is what happens when you live a long time. The best way to remember and honor your friends and family who have passed is to remember all the best times you shared with them.

So unique that he couldn't develop his back...and so unique that after retirement he felt the need to stay "300 pounds with abs"..
Unique thinkers don't do well in bbing---and the few that do, go crazy like Mentzer.
