On an iPhone 10, what is your expected monthly phone bill?

LOL.  If I were single and looking maybe I'd feel the need to have a nicer phone.  But I'm not, and I don't.

Most people dont NEED a fancy phone, but they're nice to have, it makes my life easier and i usually feel like the price is commensurate for what they do. My mom absolutely is not going to use most of the features on that phone and , right now, probably wishes most of them weren't on it, but I like that she has something nicer to replace the tincan she was using. Conversely, it's probably taking her significant effort just to pretend to care.

AL ..... !!! I just use my $60 Android cell phone with a $40 a month Cricket plan to call people .... and now you're telling me that I can do other things with it besides calling for a pizza or setting up a game of Poker??!

What can a more expensive phone do??

And believe me when I say that I was one of the original joes who was in the cell phone biz.

But back then those 'phones'  were very similar to US military ammo boxes and you had to say "Over" when you were over and "Hello" to whomever you were calling that you had a connection.

We only rented these phones which included a monthly plan for "air time" and my main customers were local prostitutes and night club strippers  and massage parlor employees who only paid in cash on the same day each month.

But now they are smaller and come in various colors and are capable of doing other stuff rather than just saying "Hello" and  "Over" and callgirl business stuff.

Damn! I gotta catch sup!!!

What is "Blue, Orange, Green, Black, Brown, Slate"!

Yeah, at this point the newer phones offer very little additional value. It’s usually that the camera is a bit better but who cares? I’m not a professional photographer. iPhone 7 camera is perfectly fine.

Apple deserves a lot of credit for its quality control. You hardly ever hear about somebody buying an iPhone that turns out to be a lemon. I’ve dropped mine many times without an issue and I don’t even use a case.

Hell, I still have an iPod touch that’s about 10 years old. I occasionally charge it and the thing still works.

Not to derail your thread, Ive never had anything other than Iphones, I'm not a techie but my 6s has been acting up lately since it got dropped in water so I figured it was time to get a new one. I was just telling someone last week, having no idea how much the other iphones cost, that even if I was swimming in cash, I couldn't bring myself to pay over $1000 for a IPhone X, that's just ridiculous. Fast forward to yesterday I'm in Verizon asking about the 7, and 8 only to find those models are friggin ridiculous as well. I think $800 for an 8.. so why not get the latest greatest for $200 more? So I ended up eating my words and will be the proud owner of a $1000 phone when it comes in Friday.. had you told me 10 years ago one day I would pay a grand for a phone I would have told you you were nuts...

Iphone 8s is the same thing as the X except for dumb useless things like the face scanner and slightly faster speed even though it's already lightning fast as well as a bigger screen.

Personal computers are usually good for about 3 years, then you have to upgrade if you want to be able to run the latest stuff.  Not much difference with game consoles.  Smart phones are similar.

ROBO, I find it interesting that you use your cell phone in place of a computer.

I would like to do the same but the cellphone 'keyboard' is too small for my use ... so I still find my computer to be advantageous.

BUT .... I have seen an advertised cellphone application which projects an image of a standard-sized keyboard on your desk.

Have you seen this or possibly ever used one?

I've had I phones since they came out. I have the 7+ now, yesterday went out and bought my wife the iPhone X (I'll be upgrading to that next month). I upgrade frequently because of one thing...the camera. 90% of my marketing is social media (Twitter, IG, Snapchat and just resurrected my Youtube channel). I have iMovie and Filmmaker Pro that I'm learning for smaller editing projects but I also hired a person to video and edit. We have a goal in 2018 to blow up in-house and online. Except when I'm with clients or family, I'm on my phone working.

PS... The only time I've ever considered a cell phone to be a status symbol was back in the day when I was the only person to use one.

But back then there were only a handful of cell phone users ... so most of us had no one to call and converse with except for the cell phone bosses whose cell phone office was in their family automobile and wanted us to sell them.

Our sales eventually picked up when cell phones became a popular item among the hookers.

They gave us their business because our only competitor (Motorola) did not want to risk the possibility of  a 'bad business'  experience.

Now it appears that I will be required to possess a thousand dollar phone  to impress the masses instead of my old ammo box with the handset mounted on top of it .... and no one to call up and talk with!

What so-called status symbol has yet to be invented that will soon be impressing each of us?
