Many, many times... but it's not something he likes to talk about ~

As best as I can figure out, he's been married 4 times.

Neither will Ed....

There is a reason that Ed was not featured more in the movie "Pumping Iron" ~ I will ask him if it's O.K for me to tell everyone why ~

(gotta get him back in the gym and in good health first...)

A lot of older bodybuilders probably already know this, but Franco was not Arnold's first choice ~ lotta controversy surrounds that movie that I didn't even know about.

This statement from Iron Man:
Feb 1968 p 43 pho @ won Mr. Fremont (Calif), mm; has 9 children,

Is that accurate? If so, then the 2002 interview of him in MMI is not; it said he had been married twice with one child from the first marriage, two from the second?

Somehow, there is something missing from such a sentiment when coming from a male posing as a female. The

^^
I think this was from around the time Arnold and Franco were not training together, as Franco had University courses for Chiropractic College.
They sort of drifted apart after living together for some time...

This clip is burned into my mind forever....the old school 45's 'deep dish' plates and the sound they make rattling on the bar.....And of course Arnold saying 'Keep going' Gives me chills everytime I watch it to this day!

Still inspiring to this very day.

Why do you need prayers?
Let nature take its course whatever that may be...thats what will happen anyway whether you or the entire world prays for him or not.

A better question is who needs the prayers? I am not a prayer, but I believe in the power of positive thinking. Human nature dictates that most people want to take some manner of active role in these types of situations, but are often at a lost as to what to do. Prayer is something that is universally accepted and acceptable. And why not? What does it hurt to pray for someone? I suspect praying is often more of a comfort for the person doing the praying then it is for the person being prayed for.

Nature will take it's course, just as you suggest. If/when Ed passes, some of the people who prayed for him will then pray for his soul and some will be disappointed because they will feel their prayers weren't answered. It's all part of the human experience.

Why do I feel like I am responding to a space alien? Your handle is interesting. Is meaningless how you feel about life?

Great pics dyslexic,thanks for sharing.

You must feel honored knowing Ed so well.

By the way,I have that same Arnold/Venice Beach logo on a very ancient T-shirt.........of course the sleeves on it  somehow mysteriously disappeared!  :D

All the best to you, and of course Ed Corney.

Thanks Wes.

I saw some earlier comments of yours and forgot to thank you for those props also.

It is a huge privilege to be working out side-by-side with him.

I own 2 copies of Pumping Iron. Actually 3 if you count the VHS. I have the anniversary edition also. I never in my wildest dreams would have imagined that I would even be near Ed, Arnold, Lou or Franco.

We watched Pumping Iron for motivation and now, how many years later it comes right back and lands in my lap?

Ed is an inspiration to ALL in our gym. Even the girls ask for his autograph... lol

(He seems to still have an affinity for the pretty women, no matter how old) ~ that is inspiring and motivating also.

Because he has been in a wheelchair numerous times and refuses to stay down, many other younger guys who know his story and have been advised by their doctors NOT to lift weights are now OFF of the damn treadmills and out in the gym where they belong... with the free weights.. the iron...

He gets everyone going. When he is in the gym it's almost surreal.

As far as the update, sadly, he is not back yet. I work there 7 days a week, so I will be posting up as soon as he walks in that door!!!

I didn't think he was still able to train. Great man. A legend in the BBing world.
That scene in PI of him squatting inspires me to this day and the example I always use when comparing how they trained back then to how they train now.

I remember how common it was back in the day for guys to collapse to the floor or even puke after a set of squats. I remember Benny Podda forcing out those last few reps like his life depended on it when blood burst from his nose.

That`s cool bro.

I still watch PI to this day occasionally........I`m even in two crowd scenes in the movie where Mike Katz is guest posing at a local contest I attended back in prehistoric times.  :D

I remember when Ed got sick and was confined to a wheelchair, but he survived and never gave up,only to train hard once again.

Truly an inspiration, and a true legend.

The stuff he has been through medically without giving up should inspire people who complain about miniscule trivial bullshit......myself included.

I hope you have many more years of training with Ed.

Ed is in good spirits...

Wants a "Kit Kat" bar...

the bed an ocean of blue lust
Into which I skin dive
to be caught in the coral reef
by the old man
the sweet pain of his harpoon
as we drown in the frothy ocean waves

dyslexic,

Thank you for keeping us well informed with regards to Ed's progress.

Ed Corney is a true legend in the bodybuilding world.

He exemplifies what it truly means to be a bodybuilder. His look throughout the years is exactly what I strived for as a young man. His intensity and passion for bodybuilding would always show as he posed.

He is a master at his craft and was around during the true golden age of bodybuilding.

Here's to a speedy recovery!

"1"

P.S. dyslexic, once Ed recovers from all of this, lets talk about getting him onto GetBig for a nice Q&A session. We would love to have him here for his in-depth knowledge of the sport throughout the last 40+ years.
