Exactly this is a HS kid and is know for his raw power by all the schools recruiting him.  That strength designation on the recruiting page shows he has repeated big lifts at combines.  Even when you watch the pro scout combines it's rare to see guys benching or squatting with perfect form.

They don't do 1RM's at scouting combines. College and Pro it's a 225lb rep test and HS is 185lbs. HS Nike combines, they don't do the 185lb bench rather they do a kneeling med-ball chest pass and they certainly don't squat.

There's no doubt the kid is on gear. But scouts are also not looking for who can bench 500lbs. As impressive as it is, they could careless.

He has an nfl UPPER BODY. 

His legs, however, look like they are from a much smaller man.  He looks like JJ Watt from the waist up.  But his arms are literally almost as big as his legs.  Won't have the speed or height for NFL, but will kick a little ass and get free college.

so 16 years of strength coaching and years and years of previous personal training and you still do not know that someone touching the bar makes the lift easier.   ??? ???

How much help did those fingers account for? 10 lbs? 15 lbs? 25 lbs?

Hell if that kid has warmed up correctly. and had proper set-up + lift off he could have nailed all 3 on his own.

I know the tests but why are they rating him on strength under the Traits? I know things have changed a lot but when I was recruited schools wanted the single totals, 40 time, stats and of course film highlights.

Little hard to tell, but he's a big kid, 6'-6", #280-290ish. Lots of offers from college scouts.

If he's a legit 6'6", he needs to pack on more bodyweight. He needs to get over 300 pounds.

people do not understand how much it takes away from a lift with hands on a bar, I can add a full plate and have a guy hands on the bar and it will look like he is not helping at all.


but on the way up he was very explosive and looked like no help at all in 2 reps.

All these guys just think about "official" bench stats which nobody cares about anyway because the kid can make money and have a nice life playing pro football.  ::) he doesn't care that somebody hand is on the bar because it doesn't matter.

We do need *final solution* for the "power lifters" anybody have ideas???!

People get drafted/recruited based on hype all the time.

That guy who had the video of him jumping out the pool, Jeff Demps who qualified for the 100m in the Olympics, Tim Tebow.... these guys all sucked, but they still got drafted based on the hype/intangibles around them.

Scouts are human too.... and in a sea of offensive lineman, there's only one with a video of him benching 515.

But i've been training them and making gains.

I hammer the 65 dumbbells for an easy 10 reps now. I do lightweight higher reps with ez curl and machine preachers tho.

I have horrible bench mechanics and could never go more than 225x4 off the juice. I've only been juicing for a couple months, and I literally NEVER ORM. I pretty much always do sets of 245x8-10. So nice try broseph.

No need to justify yourself. Honestly Bodybuilders should care fuck all about numbers. I still play with the big dumbells, 130s, almost 140s, but my best pumps are from the 85s. Numbers mean jack shit. 315lbs is a good bench dude.
