Yeah, there are times when I'm done my workout and I kind of get depressed that I'm done and want to lift more that day but know I need to wait until the next day.  I guess if I was taking 10grams of gear daily I could do twice a day workouts.

20 rep dead lifts sound like an excellent way to herniated a disc, good luck with that and all the best in your upcoming "battles" with the iron.

im not obsessed with anything.

i enjoy training. i find a direct correlation to looking forward to training and how much gear im running. typically the less gear i used that 'desire'. i still train with the same frequency. its the looking fwd to workouts that diminishes.

For instance i was at a comedy night last night, yet all i was thinking about was todays back workout, at one point when everyone was screeching with laughter i was straight faced thinking about heavy dumb bell rows. I cant help it.
when steve michalik was walking around the streets of nyc, he would sometime stop and train calves doing calf raises every city block. he would routinely train each bodypart with 60 sets per workout[intensity , insanity training] he blew his brains out inside his ex-wifes house.   all the guys pic'd below were obsessed, they also had two other things in common . guess what they were ?

Hahaha yes Mike, just this Christmas my brother was back from flying in Chinooks in Afghan being shot at by Taliban with RPG's in the middle of the night, and he said to me that it's just like lat pull down

I distinctly remember last summer moving around in full kit in 50 degree heat thinking "could be worse, at least I'm not going to war against my lagging delts".

I usually plan my workout 24 hours or so before. I form my battle plan, and then im ready to attack.

The battle in the gym is just warmup to the battle on stage, when thongs clash

;D Seriously though, I find that often the worst thing for your training can be obsessing about it all the time, especially when your out socialising or doing something important. It really drains your motivation when it actually comes time to train. I try and forget about training most of the time but then when the time comes for the weights I shut off everything else and give 100% focus to that.

Having said that, I'm on this forum right now when I'm supposed to be doing work, so I need to heed my own advice and piss off right now...

So much truth in this post

I think about training all the time. I plan different strategies.  You would think I have it down by now but it always evolves.  You have to adapt to changing work situations, family obligations, age, and yes, exhaustion.

I train according to my planned out training cycle in a journal like a script I try to follow. I keep a training diary of weight used, reps and time to complete a workout.  It does seem that the majority of successful bodybuilders just wing it when they go to the gym. If 200lbs feel right they go with it. If today is 180lbs feels right then 180lbs it is.  Guys that follow a script like myself will say last work out I used 200lbs so this workout it's either 205lbs or one more rep. It becomes really stressful.  I also envy guys that change exercises on a whim. I change exercises but it's planned. I wish I could be less anal about working out and just do it intuitively.

When I was obsessed I made great gains and never looked better. But I carried a lot of stress and anxiety. I realized that was no way to live and stopped dieting entirely, living like a NORMAL person but didn't let myself get fat or slip.

I watch my diet for the most part and still train hard, but I focus on having fun a lot more than seeing gains. I already look great, no reason to get crazy about it to look marginally better and feel way worse. It's all about finding a balance. As long as I make others feel bad about themselves with my superior physique, I don't need to push any harder. ;D

I was way to obssesed about training in my teens. Now i am much more relaxed abher tout it. Obsessing is just gonna hinder progress rather than help it. Keep it simple and don't overcomplicate things!
