Arnold -- He won.
From the videos & pics Deservedly so.
Those who were there may say different.
Mentzer should of placed higher.
As for Dickerson Getting 2nd.!!

Yup.

Arnold in first and then either Mike or Frank in second/third.  It was close between those two but the Oak for the win.  I think Mike should have just done what Arnold did when he lost the Universe to Zane, i.e., taken himself back to the gym and trained with even greater ferocity and won the next year.  Arnold may have cried in his hotel room about his loss to Zane, but Mike whined about the '80 Olympia the rest of his life.    I still think Mentzer was one of the best ever but he could have been even greater.

As John used to say, if life gives you lemons and you don't like lemonade, then throw 'em back at life and go get what you really wanted in the first place.

Besides being a little light in the legs, Arnold destroyed everyone else. Can't believe there are people who seriously believe Mentzer won.

Agreed. Arnold @ 80% was still better than the others.

Same here.  80% of Arnold smokes the rest of these guys on their best day.

Some people trying to apply today's standards to this contest where a small chest and a big stomach is acceptable.

Even if the were right (which they aren't) it's way past time to get over this.

I was watching 'The Comeback' on youtube, and noticed this. But I also felt Arnold looked, I dunno, kind of old and tired. Didn't have that enthusiasm from before. Which I guess could be attributed to his focus on Hollywood?

The remaster version of the never before seen CBS footage will tell it like it really was... no some poor quality old clip on youtube

Looks WAY heavier, like 250lb even 260lb, he was a REAL mystery when it came to bodyweight...
UNLESS his damn legs weighed nothing!!!

Wow You were there too? At the night show I sat behind Joe Weider. The ones u didn't identify...yes Tony Emmot....Roy Duval . Both Brits.  Roger Walker...a Brit who moved to Australia. Had a gym in Hornsby a suburb of Sydney. Was a partner with the fella who was in the original Mad Max. The lead up comp...called The Best in Australia was won by John Terilli who packed on the size and did well in the states competing in the Olympia. The second Oz bb with the big arms....Graeme Lancefield. Agree most were in shape but Samir and Viator were disappointing. A week or two off. Funny u mention Chris Dickerson ....met him in Atlanta at the inaugural Master's O. A true gentleman.

I never saw Zane look so...good! Nice find.

Did these guys hit legs once a month or what? God forbid a strong gust of wind come along...

WTF since when did Padilla have huge arms??

Arnold was the Coleman of that era no doubt. You could see everybody kind of had a similar build and posing style and Arnold just did it better in every possible way.
