No doubt some of theses Police Shooting Incidents are unavoidable & justified.
It does appear there is a lot that are not, Typically the unarmed victim shootings
Police worn cam corders should be mandatory.
Any switching off or not wearing should be treated as highly dubious.
This may help save innocent lives & Redeem innocent cops of wrong doing.

I believe this was supposed to happen with the NYPD, but they are pushing back. The only reason officers would push back against these cameras is because they want to continue doing illegal things without getting caught. There is no other reason for this. Cameras don't lie and if you have nothing to hide, what is the big deal with having a mounted camera on you? The difference is the cameras will show what actually happens, instead of the police officers version of events.

I think its a very good thing that this goes to trial. Shooting someone should be a last resort option. IN this case, I don't feel it was even close to a last resort option. I don't want police hesitating to shoot in a real life and death situation because they fear public outcry, but I don't want police skipping ahead and shooting someone because they get impatient.

The rhetoric for the massive increase in the police state since 9/11 has been "if you've got nothing to hide what's the problem?".  Seems like that's fair for the police too.  If it isn't, then the original justification was a lie and it was about consolidating power and undercutting the 'Bill of Rights'.

Exactly. Cops will pull you over and if you have nothing to hide, then all should go smoothly and you will be on your way without any incident.

Similarly, if cops are following protocol and shit goes down, the cameras will show exactly what happened. The cops will be justified in their actions and will be on their way.

As stated, the only reason why a cop would not want cameras is so they can give their own version of the events. I cannot think of any other reason to push back against a mounted camera. If anything, it will help the cops out if they need to shoot someone.

You are unreal.

There are a lot of reasons to not want to be recorded all of the time. Maybe he is having a smoke with his buddy, talking about the slut he banged from the bar last night? Maybe he doesnt want to be caught talking about how much he hates having to work overtime? How fat his supervisors ass is?

We need to understand that cops make on average like 50k a year. They do their best, mostly uneducated, blue collar types. Mensa members and oxford grads arent exactly lining up for 50k a year and a fucking camera on their chest, recording everytime they call someone an asshole while driving for cutting them off, talking about their personal lives, business etc. Cops are normal people for the most part. Oh brother.

Recording the entire shift is not the norm for those reasons you mentioned and data storage issues. Ironically, recently two of our cops "thought" they weren't recording when they actually were in between calls and thier conversation made the news. It was not flattering for us to say the least.  As cops, I get what they were saying, as a citizen, it's concerning. Among other things, they were apparently commenting on the way a female was dressed who happened to walk into their view. Things like "Don't call  us when you get raped we can't unrape you" were overheard. Made the cops seem less than sympathetic to women sexual assault victims.

Might seem far fetched but why can't they turn it in when called to a scene? Though I can understand this may not be the first thing on their mind. Nonetheless, something needs to be done. I personally don't think they want to wear a camera because they don't want to be held responsible for their abuse of power.

I think it's you & the cop on here who are Unreal.
Constant excuses for unwarranted deaths.
If wearing a camera is part of the job for yours & others safety
You either do the job or you don't.
Being a cop isn't the only job in the world.

Plenty of 24hr surveillance camera's out there & loads of intelligence agencies storing and collecting information
And there doesn't to seem to be a Problem with Data storage.. ::)
Or is just the cops have this Problem.

What a couple of police Apologists, Oh so Sorry The Cops Can Do No Wrong.

I only have adult conversations with adults ^^

Back to the kiddy table for you.

The ability to turn it on, on demand, is more reasonable; but citing their failure to begin recording as de facto dubious behavior is unreal. Especially in a case like this.

Yes his bodycam was on, I am leaning more towards the fact the initial contact was very calm and what happened almost completely unexpected. A routine call in regards to a domestic disturbance (husbands and wifes having a heated VERBAL ONLY debate often yields a police response), and look how it ended. Something a lot of cops (I would imagine) would take no special thought or consideration due to the common nature of the call. "Business as usual".

Another thing to note in aforementioned video is one of the reasons people get shot when they make moves suggestive of assaultive behavior and/or possession of a weapon. Alot of the time the suspect DOES have a weapon. Clearly.

Only bums, no police.  :D

We don't have many bums, we have people to whom live went sideways.
State and organizations help them and never ever police or our semi-militarized urban forces would kill someone for camping in the desert.
Even during fascism this kind of crime never happened, and fascism ended in 1974 over here.
