"Runners" tend to overdo it by running everyday and seeing how many miles they can rack up over the course of a week. As a result, they get that skinny weak look, which no one who lifts wants.
For lifters, you want to do 10-12 miles a week.
I do two 5k runs and one 10k, for a total of about 12 miles. During one of the 5k runs, I mix in some speed work; during the other, some sprints. The 10k is at an easy pace.
This routine works all the energy systems. You get to keep your muscle, and, as mentioned, you can eat more. Without ice cream, life is barely worth living
