I dont even know what a pan sauce is. Is it sauce you make in the pan while the chicken is cooking? What would be in a pan sauce?

Yes... More info on this special sauce you speak of...

Not that my lazy ass will do it. I just add Ms Dash or some general tao/bbq korean sauce.

I did 8 x 440 yard intervals today on a treadmill. For guys not into cardio that's 8 x one lap around. I walked  fast for a half lap (220 yards) in between for the rest part. My first was done at a 8:30 pace and the eighth interval was at  a 6:40  mile pace. I'm coming off an injury to my foot so I'm not pushing it too hard. I warm up and cool down with a fast quarter mile walk.

I hope to get 8 sub seven minute mile pace 440 yard intervals in the coming weeks. I run distance outside and rarely on a treadmill anymore. I have come to hate distance on a treadmill. Just tedious torture.  I would rather do something like 6 x  half miles or 8 x  quarter miles.

Listen to motown, pop or dance music. I need something to keep me charged up with rhythm. Some of the stuff I listen to is the best of the Four Tops, Old school Jackson Five, Bruno Mars, some rock thrown in as long as it has some rhythm in it.

I did at least 12 round trips of 30 steps with a fully loaded plate at the pizza buffet last week.
This was followed by max reps squatting on the porcelain bowl.

"Runners" tend to overdo it by running everyday and seeing how many miles they can rack up over the course of a week. As a result, they get that skinny weak look, which no one who lifts wants.

For lifters, you want to do 10-12 miles a week.

I do two 5k runs and one 10k, for a total of about 12 miles. During one of the 5k runs, I mix in some speed work; during the other, some sprints. The 10k is at an easy pace.

This routine works all the energy systems. You get to keep your muscle, and, as mentioned, you can eat more. Without ice cream, life is barely worth living ;)

So true. My wife used to train for marathons with groups of people and she was just getting fatter. I finally said "why dont u look at these skinny fat, bad posture, knee pad wearing, broken down haggared looking people in your group. Is there anyone there u want to look like?" She finally caught on.

50-60 minutes was hard until I discovered Breaking Bad.  I would pop it in and bust ass for the entire episode.  Now there's fuck all on that would keep my attenton for that long.  I get bored after 5 minutes on the treadmill.

It's about that time to start getting back on the cardio/diet bandwagon. .kicked it off with an 80 min cardio session on the stair climber. ..got me thinking whats the most cardio you've ever done in 1 day..during my last prep I had a few days where I was doing 3 hrs total (3 sessions)..almost 800 cals burned in this session.

800 cals on a stair climber & you'll need to oil your knees afterwards.

Most I do is cycling - a 100k ride is over 2000 cals.

My evening ride is 30k - about an hour and that's 730cals.

in the gym - I always plop my kindle on the machine and read.

No way could I use a treadmill/stepper without a book.

If I end up at the gym and I forgot my kindle, I'll get a book from the shop downstairs before going in.

If I don't, all I end up thinking about is the time ahead of me.

In the warm weather I was doing something similar outside at the track:

Jog 1 mile at comfortable pace (7.5-8 min mile).

Walk 1/8 mile, then sprint 1/4 mile at sub six min mile pace.....repeat 4x so that you've basically done a 6 min mile, albeit broken up with 1/8 walks.....

Then do another mile at the original pace....

Then 45 min of various stuff  -  sandbags, battle ropes, pushups,,,,all in intervals of 45 sec on / 30 sec off.

I always found that conditioning endurance is a missing factor with bodybuilders. You can have 454 chevy motor with a blower but if the gas tank is nearly empty that motor is going to run out of gas. You cannot be a boxer, mma, or wrestler without endurance.

Yeah, only if aesthetics is your goal.

If you want condition, or are training for an event, eating less isn't going to cut it.

Cardio can be beneficial on many level, especially when endurance comes into play, for me I find that the stair climber and swimming help bring out details in my physique that I dont get from just training.

I tried a similar approach with my ex. She was obssesed with that shit. The skinny fat factor was just too much of a turn off for me. I told her every way possible..

Marathon runners "fuel" their runs with energy gels. So, a lot of the calories burned are nullified.

The thing about running is that if you go slow enough. 10-11 min miles, you can run all day. This lends itself to obsessive types going overboard.

Many ultra-runners have had past issues with drugs.

Tabata intervalls 5 times a week is all you need...

Go all out 20 seconds, rest 10 seconds, repeat 4-8 times. If you're not puking at the end, you're not doing it right.

Many, many studies find that protocol much more beneficial for cardio than steady ass (50 minutes) 5 times a week.

http://europepmc.org/abstract/med/8897392

I had a long race last week (21k) and although I never trained for that distance, I was able to finish in the middle of the pack, surrounded by skinny fat "cardio freaks".... I was doing Tabata for 6 months prior to the race... Never working out more than 4 minutes :-)

that would kill my motivation. I switch between different cardio machines and do "sets" of 20 or thirty minutes, then a small rest, and another 30 minute set.

When the day is over I got as much out of it, cardio wise, as you did in the quotes torture session.
