He is Australian, amazing rugby league player but clearly delusional. best case scenario is he fumbles his way out of the league.
Worst case is he gets injured and cannot even go and make money back in Australia.

He isn't on the team yet. He is guaranteed $100,000 to come to the US and go through tryouts. $100,000 for the San Francisco 49er's is $5 to you and me.

It's a nice publicity stunt for the 8-8 49er's. Nothing more.

9ers are a dumpster fire. They ran a coach out of town who was something like 45-15 and took them to 3 nfc championship games and a super bowl. The football gods will not smile on you again for a long long time. We will see the "we believe" signs again soon...

Rugby and rugby league are different sports. Can one american sports outlet get that part of the story correct eventually?

And most NFL players would gas out in 5 minutes of rugby league. No breaks in play unless someone gets knocked out.

Rugby players are on their feet in attack and defense for two 40 minute half's. Overall they are easily better athletes. NFL players have specialized skills which make it very difficult for rugby players to crossover. They just wont be good enough to compete (kicking and punting being the exception)

If there was one rugby player who could have dominated the NFL its this beast.

Rugby is a slow game with crap hits. Kiwi's love it because they dominate it's fucking boring with penalties for who knows what every 30 seconds.

Rugby League is much faster and harder with the biggest hits around. Hayne dominates at the top level in State of Origin. A few months ago everyone said on here he wouldn't get this far. Maybe he goes no further but he is a freak. What he did in 2009 was unbelievable, taking the team from almost last to the Grand Final winning 8 straight just to make the finals and teams having no idea what to do against him. Worth a shot. I think he's even on 1.2m here the salary cap is 6m and the Eels boss said he freed up 20% of his cap by leaving. Sounds like a love the guy but he's an absolute freak and doesn't even play for my team, just great to watch.

league players could teach NFL guys how to hit properly with the shoulder too. Leading with your head is just plain dumb.

Just delusional. That guy couldn't make the team on a Division I college team. NFL players are explosively strong and the top of the food chain.

Like I said. Pete Carroll either last year or the year before implemented teaching rugby tackling techniques to his team and is starting to make it league wide to help avoid helmet to helmet. High Schools started (at least the ones in our league) have been using it. It's just as effective and the injury rates have been lower.
