Actually the older generation of Nigerians and Kenyans I used to work with don't like american black culture, never liked the hip hop/lifestyle decadent messages it sends. Not emphasizing on education enough
Like many others have said it really lies within the culture
Old generation Nigerians should recognize that the Generation before the baby boomers emphasized education.
But, then again, Nigerians have been known for many years of their corrupt and scam artist ways.
A West African saying is "Never trust a Nigerian".
Fela Kuti, the great Nigerian singer even though he had positive message, was a mysognist who died of AIDS. He was about Nigerian and African pride. Pan-Africanism.
Many of the ideas of the New World blacks, were responsible for helping and encouraging Africans.
Many Africans have this "purity" pride issue, kinda like Euros vs. American.
American blacks blah-blah. Yet, they are in America. So, now they are lumped in with them, and want to set themselves apart.
Also, many of the Africans were not part of American Civil Rights movement, it is that movement that is responsible for them to be over here and make a living.
