Made to the gym yesterday. I did my usual work out and even added a couple of extra moves to it.

Nothing to do with working out, but I woke up yesterday morning with my back out. I have no idea how it happened. However, I decided not to let that stand in the way of a good workout. I actually felt a lot better after the workout. Last night, I used the "tens" for an hour on my lower back. When I woke up this morning my back felt a lot better.

I took some measurements last night and threw up (not really). It is disgusting how out of shape I am after my apparently too long hiatus from the gym. My arms (15.5" cold) and thighs (24.5") are comparatively thin while my waist (38") and hips (40") have grown some. not wanting to know anymore, I stopped measuring. What I don't get is that my clothes still fit and are not tight. I wear pants and jeans that are 36" with a little room to spare at the waist. This just goes to prove you cannot go by pants size when measuring your waist. My weight this morning was 204 lbs. @ 5'10 1/2". Like I said, I am really out of shape.

This morning I decided I have to lose some weight. I had a very small glass of orange juice and about a half hour later a protein drink from the market. About 3 hours after that I had another protein drink. They are only 100 calories with 17 grams of protein. Did a Costco run and bought 36 premixed protein drinks that are 170 calories and 30 grams of protein. These are going to be my breakfast, lunch and late night snack for awhile until I get my waist under control.

Jay you know what i never drink protein shakes and to be honest a lot of drinks are high in suger and calories. I drink coffee with no suger, milk i drink and lots of water.

My problem is that I like to eat well. I don't consume and sugar substitutes. I don't ever use margarine, always butter. If I add anything to my coffee, it will be either heavy cream or at least half and half. Another issue I have is controlling the quantity of what I eat. While I rarely get hungry, I also rarely feel full. The result is that I tend to eat too much.

What protein drinks provide me is meal replacement. The drinks I bought at Costco today, which have 30 grams of protein derived from Whey and soy, only have 170 calories. There is no breakfast or lunch I could eat with so few calories. I am not drinking protein drinks in addition to meals.

Dinner is more difficult for me to gain control over. Both my wife and I love to cook. She made dinner tonight. She fixed boneless and skinless chicken breasts with a Lingonberry sauce, snap peas in butter, Stovetop stuffing, pear halves with cream cheese balls in the pit area and French dressing to top. All yummy stuff. I ate all of my chicken breast, a large helping of snap peas, a small helping of the stuffing and two pear halves with the cream cheese, but not the French dressing. I had one glass of red wine with dinner.

This is what my wife decided to fix after I told her I was going to cut back my food intake to help me lose some excess fat. For desert I am drinking a cup of green tea with nothing in it. I will have one more protein drink late tonight. Normally, I drink a Grande Chai Latte from Starbucks sometime during the day. I am going to switch to café Americano, which is basically espresso with nothing but water in it.

Because my back is still a little out of whack, I am moving slower than usual today. My guess is I didn't burn many calories.

Like you, I am a big water drinker. I don't bother with the bottled stuff. Our refrigerator provides filtered water, which is chilled. I avoid ice because I tend to chew it. As a result, I managed to crack both my lower wisdom teeth, which now sport gold crowns. I don't mind having gold teeth were no one can see them. I'd hate to crack a front tooth and end up with a gold crown with a diamond in the middle....it just isn't me! LOL.

keep up the cardio too Jay. I think to really get in shape you need weights and Cardio. Flexibility too but you stretch as well. Itīs like a stool with 3 legs, lose one and it will topple. I have to admit i need to stretch more in my shoulder area.

I like your three legged stool analogy. Stretching is new to me. I never bothered with it until now. It really seems to make a difference too. Now I realize I should have started stretching regularly many years ago. I am so inflexible, it is not good. I am trying to take things slowly, so I won't burn out. I thought I might add more cardio on my days off from the gym soon. I am still doing stretching and core building exercises a couple of days a week which are specifically designed to develop the core and help with the sciatica and degenerative disk disease I have.

I have a couple of Frank Sinatra CD's which I really enjoy listening to. My dad wanted to be a singer, he was about the same age as Frank Sinatra. He often copied his mellow style. When I listen to Frank Sinatra sing, it always makes me think of good times with my dad. I have too many favorites to mention.

Did not make it to the gym today or yesterday. I suspect the testosterone injections aren't getting me through the full two weeks between shots. I am due for one on Monday. Right now, I have almost no energy at all. I slept for 12 hours last night. I need to get this sorted out.

I am still here yes. Got some catching up to do though with what's been happening with everyone. Need to get laptop sorted ASAP. I will probably just wait until my friend takes hers in to be fixed and see if it comes back without any new issues. I think I told you all that the last time she got her laptop looked at it came back with a new problem which is what has happened to me. So that's why I am going to see how hers comes back and if its a good place then I will put mine in to get sorted. I trained abs after back today so I am definitely on the recovery. Didn't swell during or after training. Some swelling is with me all the time, the main difference is that it's not increasing when I train. I am getting leaner through the waist. Only really noticed it this week due to my clothes getting looser through the waist. Surprisenly I haven't even really been doing as much cardio. Just had a busier social life  ;D

You are so much more patient than I am. By now I would have replaced the laptop with a new one.
